The next time Avi woke up it was because he felt Mitch stirring beside him. "Mmhm... Love, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing, Avi, go back to sleep. I'm just... I can't sleep anymore..." The blonde shrugged his shoulders.
"Hmmm..." Avi hummed as he turned to face his boyfriend. He studied his facial expressions for a moment until he spoke up again: "Do you want to talk about it?"
Mitch shrugged his shoulders once more. "I don't know... it's just..." He drew in a shaky breath and bit his lower lip to stop it from trembling.
"Mitchy it's okay, I've got you." Avi had noticed his boyfriend's struggle and pulled him into a tight embrace immediately. He didn't know what was on Mitch's mind in this moment, but he knew that he needed him.
As soon as Mitch found himself in the brunette's strong arms, he let go, sobbing and sniffling as he cried himself out into Avi's shirt. "We could've lost him..." he finally spoke up, his voice raspy. "And I dreamed..." This was the moment he sobbed again, not being able to form a sentence.
"Shhh, Babe. Deep breaths first" Avi spoke up. "Try to calm down, then you can tell me everything."
Mitch nodded and tried his very best to breathe regularly.
"Better, Love?" Avi asked when he noticed that the smaller man was more or less calm again.
"Mmhm..." Mitch hummed, wiping away his tears with a tissue which Avi had handed him.
Avi sat up, pulling Mitch with him. "What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"
"Yes" Mitch confirmed. "It was so horrible. He was... in a coma and I... needed to go there alone and you had to wait and you made me feel bad about it and I just... felt so horrible. One of my boyfriends in a coma the other one not talking to me for no apparent reason."
"Oh Love" Avi reacted immediately. "It was only a dream though. I mean, you saw Scott already, you know that you'll be able to talk to him tomorrow. I am not angry at you for not being able to see Scotty. I have to say that I was disappointed, but this disappointment was directed at the fact and neither at Scott, nor at the doctor and especially not at you." He leaned in to kiss Mitch's temple.
"I know, Avi" Mitch replied. "I know that this dream is kind of silly and everything, but it felt so real and it made me feel so bad."
"I understand. But now that you're awake and talking to me, are you feeling better?" Avi asked with a careful voice.
"Kind of..." Mitch shrugged his shoulders once more. "I still feel shaken up and I don't want to go to sleep again and I... I don't know I want to just see him again, talk to him, have you see him, then I'll be better."
"I agree, sweetheart. You'll definitely feel better. And if you don't feel like going to sleep again, we should get up. It's still early, but we haven't eaten since brunch yesterday and I am hungry" Avi explained.
"Mmhm... I'm not really hungry, but I guess I should eat something anyway, it's going to be a long day..." Mitch mused.
"Yep, you should eat something" Avi agreed. "You need your strength to be there for Scott and therefore you have to eat at least a little bit. I'll even prepare an omelette for you, the way you like it the most."
This caused a small smile to appear on Mitch's face. "Thank you..."
"You're welcome." The bearded man softly pecked his boyfriend's cheek and carefully let go of him to get up. "Come on, Love. Or do you want to take a shower first?"
"I could do this, I feel like I sweated a lot during this awful nightmare..." Mitch slowly got out of the bed as well and stretched his arms. "I'll make it a quick one."
