The young couple stayed inside one another's arms for a while, until Mitch almost ripped himself away from the bearded man, grabbed his phone and started typing.

"What are you doing, Mitch?" Avi asked, his brows furrowed.

"Booking an uber. Nurse said I shouldn't drive and neither should you." The small blonde looked up with determination in his eyes. "We've got fifteen minutes to get ready. Scott needs us to be there for him, we cannot sulk." He stood up. "I'll quickly get dressed, will you... wait, you're coming aren't you? I don't mean to force you or..."

"Of course I am coming, Mitch. Because as you said, he needs us to be there for him. And I also think that we need one another" the bearded man replied, standing up as well. He pecked Mitch's forehead.

This small gesture helped Mitch calm down again and he smiled slightly and nodded at his boyfriend. "Thank you. Now... I need to get dressed..." he repeated, seemingly unsure of what to do.

Avi sighed softly. "Wanna have one of my flannels and combine it with some comfy jeans?"

"Yes, please?" Mitch said meekly.

Half an hour later, the two men entered the hospital, Mitch walking up to the information desk immediately, followed closely by Avi.

"Hi" Mitch greeted, a little bit out of breath. "I'm here for Scott Hoying..."

The male nurse sitting at the desk looked up immediately. "Hoying? Wait a second." He clicked through something in his computer and nodded. "He's still in treatment, but I'm authorised to inform you that his injuries are not life threatening."

Both, Mitch and Avi felt utterly released hearing that. Even though that didn't mean that Scott's injuries were harmless, knowing that he would live was the most important news at that very moment.

"That's... good to know" Avi finally said. "Do you know anything else?"

"Unfortunately not" the nurse replied. "But if you want to, you can take a seat in the waiting room, someone will inform you when there's anything new regarding Mr Hoying."

"We will, thank you very much" Avi replied and Mitch smiled at him as well before they went over to the waiting area. "Do you need anything for now?" Avi asked his boyfriend once they had sat down.

"Nothing besides knowing that he's safe and not hurt too bad" Mitch explained, suddenly feeling tired. "And a hug... maybe..."

"I need one, too." Avi immediately put his arms around his boyfriend, pulling him in. Holding Mitch and be held in return kept him sane in this moment, made him feel grounded.

The boyfriends stayed like this, as close to another as they could be without being too close and exposing themselves as being more than friends.

It was about an hour later and both men were about drift off when someone stepped into the waiting area. "Mitchell Grassi waiting for Scott Hoying?"

Mitch stood up immediately. "Yeah, that's us..." he said, referring not only to himself but also to Avi, who was standing up right next to him.

"Hello, I'm Doctor John, I am responsible for Mr Hoying" the middle aged man said.

"Mitch Grassi, I'm his roommate and best friend" Mitchi introduced himself.

"And I'm Avi Kaplan, roommate and friend as well" Avi added with a slight smile on his face.

"Well" Doctor John began. "I just wanted to tell you that we have finished the examination of Mr Hoying for now." He looked at his clipboard. "As you may already know, he had an accident, a hit and run at a parking lot of a supermarket. For now we diagnosed him with a severe concussion, two partially fractured ribs, a few lacerations and bruises. However, we still need to run a few more tests tomorrow to find out about on of his knees is just bruised or if there's more to it."
