I sat crying in the bridesmaid’s dressing room. I just talked to Gin again. Somehow, I knew it would never change anything. He still didn’t remember me. It’s been that way ever since we took down Eli. The whole family has tried everything. I shook it off and went down stairs. I may have had trouble with Gin but there was still another wedding that I was supposed to be in. I wasn’t going to let Ashley and Daniel down. Ashley had just gotten out of the hospital after having her baby boy, Daniel Jr.
“Princess. You look wonderful.” Father said when I reached him.
“Thanks” I said with a fake smile as I grabbed Daniel Jr.’s hand. The wedding went off with no troubles. It was the perfect fairy tale. When night time came, I went off on my own and went up to the top of the cliff. I sat at the edge and cried. Right then, if Gin still remembered, we would have been standing at the same spot where Ashley and Daniel were just hours ago.
“Still a crybaby?” I heard someone say. I turned around to find Eli standing there.
“Leave me alone.” I said as I stood up.
“You’re the one who put me in that place.” He said “Do you think that you can just get away with it?” I thought about it for a moment.
“Yeah” I said. Eli charged at me. I fell to the ground and rolled. I was going to get up but Eli grabbed me by the ankle and pulled me far enough to grab my throat and hang me over the edge. I struggled.
“Too bad your perfect little wedding got canceled. But at least this day can be remembered by something you did.” Eli said as he lowered me. Fear ran through me. Then Eli let go.
“No!” Someone shouted. Then I felt a strong hand at my wrist. I looked up to Gin pulling me up.
“Gin” I said.
“Hold on baby just hold on.” He said. I got onto solid ground and looked at Eli who was falling towards the jagged rocks at the bottom of the cliff.
“Gin” I said before he pulled me tight and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around him. Gin pulled away and said
“I’m so sorry. I should have remembered you. I should have remembered what today was or who my awful brother was or…” He went on and on.
“Ssh” I said as I put my finger against his lips and pulled him towards me. That kiss was even better than the last one. Gin pulled away.
“I guess that means I’m forgiven.” He said. I giggled. Then we heard a cough behind us. We looked to find Father and Pastor Paul.
“I’m still able to do another wedding.” Pastor Paul said.
“The ring.” Gin said as he grabbed my hand and saw it wasn’t there. I pulled my hand away and pulled out the gold chain the was underneath the dress.
“You mean this ring?” I said pointing to the ring on the chain. Gin smiled.
