John decided to join Robbie and me on our ride through the orchard.
"I still think we should stop to pick apples." Robbie said. "Firebolt’s getting hungry and Elizabeth could make her delicious apple pies." I thought about it.
“I agree but you ride back to get the bags." I said as I got of my horse, Chesnutt.
"I second that notion." John said as he got of Stallion.
"Fine" Robbie said. He turned around. After he rode off John had a question.
“Why won't you just tell the truth? That look in your eyes, your hiding something." I sighed as I sat against a tree.
“Because every time I try to piece it together, it comes down to one person. One person who could change everything. Our family, our life’s. It could all go up in smoke." I rubbed my eyes. "Besides, every time I think of it, I can't sleep, I can't eat. I can't even breathe. It just scares me half to death. I may act tough but inside I'm just a scared little girl shaking in a dark corner. I want to get out of the corner but can't face the monsters." I laid my head against the tree and sighed. John put his arm around me and held me tight.
“We’ll get past the monsters." he said. I smiled.
“I got the bags!!!" Robbie called out as he and Firebolt came galloping our way. John and I chuckled as we got up and helped Robbie picked apples.
