I was finally fourth period, and I was leaving to go meet Niall at his locker but then out of nowhere Harry jumped in front of me, “Hey Sam! I was thinking me and you should go for a walk, it’s beautiful outside.” He looked at me with a hopeful expression.
I wanted to go badly, but I couldn’t bail out on my hang out with Niall, that wouldn’t be fair to him, so I shook my head, “I’m sorry Harry, but I made plans with Niall, and I miss him a lot so I don’t want to bail out on him.”
Harry’s face fell when I said no, I felt really bad. “Oh, okay well that’s cool. Are we still on for tomorrow night?”
“Obviously! Can’t let you be dateless can I? It might ruin your reputation” I teased.
He laughed, “Well I’ll let you go meet Niall, I’ll see you after school then or something, text me later!” He gave me a quick hug and left.
I watched him leave and then I walked quickly to Niall. I saw Niall leaning against to his locker looking at his phone, I ran up to him and screamed boo, and gave him a little startle. I laughed, “Loser!” I joked.
“Sam! I’ve missed you; it’s been awhile since it was just us two.” He hugged me.
It felt nice to feel Niall’s arm around me, but it didn’t feel the same as when Harry hugged me. I hugged back and then pulled away, “So what are we going to do today?”
“Well I’m hungry, so I say we go to McDonalds and buy a big meal and then go for a walk and go to the park, we should make the most of it!”
“I honestly wonder how you’re not fat when you eat so much food…”
He laughed, I adored Niall’s Irish laugh, there was something that pulled me in when he laughed. We headed out the school, and we started telling each other jokes, we got to McDonalds soon enough and Niall ordered two Big Mac meals, while I ordered an ice cream sundae. We sat down and I tried not to laugh when I watched Niall eat so much food. “What…” He said with his mouthful when he caught me staring at him.
“You’re supposed to talk when you have no food in your mouth, it’s disgusting to see all that food…”
“Oh you mean like this?” He opened his mouth and started yelling AHHHH showing me all his food, I looked away disgusted while he burst out laughing.
“You’re disgusting…”
“Nah, you’re just a girl.” He winked.
I rolled my eyes, “so Niall, why does it seem like you don’t want to be around me at school anymore? Ever since that night?”
“It’s not that I don’t want to be around you, I love being around you it’s just whenever I want to spend time with you, you’re always with Harry. And even though I try to hang out with you during spare, it’s just hard because you and Harry always have seemed to have gone somewhere, so I sort of just gave up.”
“Oh, but what about in class. You hardly even look at me, let alone talk to me, and when we’re working on the assignment I just feel like you’re ignoring me.”
“I’m not ignoring you Sam, it’s just hard. I feel like I’m being ditched by you, like I know we’ve only been friends for a while but the first day I met you I felt like we had a connection and it just hurt to see that after you met Harry you sort of just left me.” He said sadly.
I was shocked to hear him say this; I didn’t know I made him feel this way. All this time I thought he hated ME for no reason. I felt really bad, I sat there for what felt like forever till I finally said, “I’m sorry Niall, I didn’t even realize it.”
