I woke up early this morning. Quietly got dress and ready so I don't wake up my mom. I wore a light blue polo, light brown/peachy khakis and worn out sneakers.
I wasn't excited for the first day of senior year. I was actually nervous. I was afraid of what everyone might think of me. Especially with this cast that I have on.
I don't have any signatures from anyone. Cause I don't have anyone. Only Jared, but I don't really think he's want to sign it or anything. He's is my only friend though. I'm just not that confident.
But my mom doesn't believe that. She says that the letters I write to myself will help me build my confidence. It sometimes works but not most of the time.
I'm actually writing one now.
Dear Evan Hansen
Today's gonna be a good day and here's why....
I wrote the letter for awhile, but I didn't get far because my mom came into my room.
"Morning honey. You ready for your first day back at school."
"I guess."
"Have you've been writing those letters to yourself?"
"Yes. I just started one."
"Your doing so well Evan. I'm so proud of you."
"Ok."
She smiled at me and left my room. I sat on my bed for awhile, thinking. Until I looked at my bedside clock. 7:25am. Schools starts in about 30 mins. I got off my bed, put my laptop in my backpack and left my room. I saw that my mom was getting ready for work so I didn't bother her to drop me off. I just said bye to her and left for the bus.
On the way to school I stared at my cast. I'm so afraid of what everyone gonna say about me or even notice me.
Eventually the bus came to a stop at the high school. I walked off and slowly walked up to the school courtyard. I then saw Jared talking with his other friends. He noticed me and walked towards me.
"Hey Hansen. Still have that cast I see."
"Hey Jared. Yeah I know about the cast."
"How'd you get that cast again?"
"Well I was working at this Park Service place and I was climbing this tree and the branch broke and I fell."
"Dude. I know you are like the "Forest Expert", but that was a ridiculous thing you did."
"Yeah I know."
We walked the halls, making small talk. Me and Jared's lockers are near each other's so we just waited there for the bell to ring. But then a boy wearing a dark gray jacket with the sleeves pushed up to his elbows, black pants, and black boots walked down the hall near us.
"Hey look. It's School Shooter Connor. I see you've grown out that hair huh?"
"Shut the hell up Jared. I don't need comments from you."
"Woah. Sorry bro. I'll leave you too it School Shooter."
Jared walked away and I chuckled at his comment.
"What the hell you laughing at?!"
"W-what? N-nothing." I said nervously.
"Your such a freak!"
He pushed me up against the locker harshly and walked away. I stayed there until the bell rang. I slowly got up and walked towards the computer lab. I didn't really feel like going to my 1st period. I needed to rewrite my letter.
