Frisk looked at Chara as she approached, her army of monsters, of friends, following steadily behind her. This was it, the moment she'd dreaded for so long, and yet all of her built up fear seemed to slowly flow out of her. Her body filled with DETERMINATION. She felt a hand on her shoulder, someone stepping up to walk beside her. She knew it was Sans even without looking, but she threw a quick smile his way to try to reassure him, to reassure all of them, that everything would turn out okay. He squeezed her shoulder, telling her silently that he would not leave her Her only hope was that they'd listen to her instructions and keep away from Chara.
"Come on Frisk, my dear. A few steps closer now." Chara mocked from her place across the hall, not even attempting to hide the humor in her voice.
"Everyone, please stay behind me, I don't want you hurt." She muttered to her group, DETERMINATION flowing through her, supporting her. She took the last few steps toward Chara, her gaze on the small girl steady and unwavering. Frisk held back a smile as she heard the whispers of reassurance from the monsters behind her.
"I see you are filled with DETERMINATION, shall I fix that for you?" Chara said, her voice sounding cheery, as if they were all at a party having a good time, as if one of them wasn't about to die. Frisk knew she'd probably lose someone, she just hoped she wouldn't. She took a second to look behind her at her friends, no, her family. They all smiled at her reassuringly. She flashed a smile back at them. "Are we done? I have places to be after this you know." The girl in the green sweater says aggressively. Frisk turned back around just as the other girl lunged toward her, the blade she wielded ripping a hole in her sleeve. She let out a small gasp before kicking out and hooking one of Chara's feet, sending the other girl toppling to the ground. Frisk started to lean toward her opponent, who jumped up, arm swinging. Her knife glimmered, snagging a thread in Frisk's sweater, but still missing actual flesh. It is at that moment Frisk realized she didn't have a weapon and cursed herself for being so reckless as she left, though there wasn't much of a choice anyway.
A sharpened bone flew past her, barely hitting the girl in the green sweater, but hitting nonetheless. Chara clutched at the wound in her side as she loses health, a small look of panic crossing her features, though only for a moment. She looked up at the skeleton, Sans, who obviously sent the bone her way, her face redder than usual and filled with aggression. "You ripped my sweater!" She yelled, gesturing at the torn fabric.
"Sorry to tell ya kid, but that thing was lookin pretty grimy anyway. I mean sheesh, have ya ever heard of a washing machine?" Sans says with a cold chuckle, sending another bone slicing through the air.
"You stop that now!" Chara commanded, her red eyes glowing with hatred. She walked toward the skeleton, this time dodging each and every bone coming her way with a series of flips. "I swear I'll kill you first, skeleton! You won't be laughing and making jokes then!" She swung, her knife missing Sans by inches.
Frisk took the distraction as a chance to ask her group for a weapon. Undyne handed her one, a small golden spear, probably from the castle's weaponry. "Thank you Undyne." She whispered to the blue fish woman, who nodded in response.
Frisk turned her attention back to Sans and Chara, who are barely blurs of quick movement. Frisk lunges forward, hoping to catch Chara by surprise. Just as she reaches her, the other girl turns and slices the side of Frisk's face. The cut isn't deep but it stings, Frisks gasps loudly as the blade hits, and stabs the spear at Chara, hoping to hit something. She's satisfied as she hears the other girl gasp and pain and step away from her.
"F-Flowey! I need you!" Chara cried out. The room seemed eerily quiet and still for a moment, and then the floor shook a bit, the small, yellow flower emerging from a hole in the floor.
"Get them!" Chara yelled like a toddler in the midst of a tantrum. "Kill them!" She screeched, as one of Flowey's vines wrapped itself around Frisk's ankle. Frisk stared at it for a moment and stabbed downward with her spear, severing the vine as Flowey hissed in pain.
"Frisk! Look out!" Sans bellowed, lunging forward just as Chara landed a blow between her shoulders.
