The brown haired girl sat down on her bed in deep thought. She had just finished eating dinner with the two skeletons. The wait of hearing what Sans had to say was bothering her. But that wasn't the big question, she was also worried about Chara. This timeline was going smoothly so far, the longest one yet. Frisk would do anything to keep it this way.
Excluding the worry about Chara. She kept refreshing her computer, checking every second for a reply from her little dinosaur friend. Hopefully Chara wasn't around. There wasn't anything new at the moment. This left Frisk uneasy. She had to know. Frustrated, the human girl let out a long sigh as well as a groan. "I guess I can only hope..." What she didn't know, is that her skeleton friend was on the other side of her door, he heard her groan as he passed by the room, and stayed to hear the conversation she was having with herself.
He was worried too, no doubt about it. He was scared about Chara, but there was still a glimmer of hope. He managed to hold on to it. Odd, it was usually the kid who ended up giving him hope, but it switched this time around.
He returned to his room after a little while, finding the notes on his bed once again. He looked over it a couple more times to see if anything could help with the situation. He knew Chara was bothering the girl, and he wanted her to return to her normal self. The go-happy, determined, pacifist girl that fell down the hole in Mt. Ebott. Not the uptight, worried, stressed girl that sat in her room at the moment. If he could help prepare, maybe it would help.
Evening dawned upon Snowdin. Darkness slowly found it's way to cover the entire town, revealing the little lights the townspeople called stars. Sans found his way into the dream world without a problem, leaving the notes once again next to him as he slept. Frisk, on the other hand, refused to sleep. Anxiety had gotten to her good, Chara could appear at any moment. She tried to force herself to sleep, but everything she tried failed. The thought of Chara scared her half to death, knowing what happened last timeline.
She took in a nice, deep breath to clear her head, reminding herself that she can't let these things get to her head. She lay back down on her head, letting sleep overtake her.
The next morning, Frisk woke up at a decent time, the sun had just risen. Papyrus was wide awake, cooking breakfast for everyone. Sans, still asleep and not likely to wake up any time soon. The human girl made her way down the stairs to see the younger, yet taller, skelebro cooking his famous spaghetti.
"Good morning, Pap." She yawned as she opened the fridge.
"GOOD MORNING, HUMAN! I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, AM MAKING SPAGHETTI FOR BREAKFAST!" Papyrus smiled at his friend. She returned it and continued to rummage through the fridge to find something, but soon gave up.
"Spaghetti sounds great Pap!" His smile grew wider at her comment. He stood up with his back a little straighter, having a little more confidence, not that he didn't already have a lot. "I'll be in my room if you need anything." She groggily made her way back up the stairs and entered her room. She turned on the computer to see she received something from Alphys. So far, so good. Alphys hasn't detected anything with the device. The uneasy feeling came back to her.
She started to think of ways she could prepare. Sans had said it probably won't happen soon, but what information does he have to make him think in that way? She could appear at any time, any place. Pain started to reach her head, she leaned back, trying to take a break, but her mind wouldn't let her, horrible thoughts kept her eyes moving left to right, up and down, all around. She soon became enclosed in her own mind, imagining all the worst possibilities of Chara's return.
A knock on the door made her jump, startling her for the moment it happened. Her breath quickened and she had her hand over her chest, where her heart would be. Slowly, she brought it back down to a normal pace.
"Who is it?" She breathed, still checking around for a heartbeat.
"IT IS I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, TO INFORM YOU THAT BREAKFAST IS READY!" Papyrus yelled triumphantly.
"Alright, I'll be down soon." Her hand fell off her chest onto her lap. She leaned back into her chair once again, releasing the breath she didn't realize she was holding. She stood up whilst brushing herself off before walking out the door. However, by the time she grabbed the plate of spaghetti, her appetite was gone completely. She didn't want to eat, but she did it anyways for Pap's sake. After she finished the pasta, the tall skeleton left for training with Undyne. Frisk walked back up to her room, rubbing her temples along the way.
Although Chara shouldn't appear any time soon, she was worried, most of her friends were oblivious to the fact that Chara was around. Only Sans and Alphys knew about how much of a problem she was and will be when she attacks.
Sans slowly got up from his bed, struggling to escape the comfort. Once he got down, he saw that Paps had made spaghetti for everyone. He looked at the time, He should've left for training by now, so he wasn't worried about anything happening to him. Frisk was usually up by now and either eating breakfast or watching TV. Once he finished eating his food, he used his magic to gently place his plate down into the sink before walking up to Frisk's door.
With a tight fist, he softly knocked on the door, loud enough to hear it.
"Who is it?" She asked her famous line.
"The only other being in the house, Frisk." He could practically hear her eye roll. Frisk sighed before opening the door a crack. Sans looked at her face carefully, there were slight bags under her eyes. "So, how'd you sleep?" He subtly asked a question to try and get an answer out of her.
"Pretty well actually, you?" She could tell what he was getting at. Truth be told, she only got 2 hours of sleep in the end. But she can't tell Sans that, it'll only worry him more.
"I slept fine, thank you." Sans squinted to take a closer look at her face. She just looked overall tired. He decided to stop annoying her about it.
"So? Why did you knock on my door?" She leaned against the door frame, arms crossed.
"Well, you weren't downstairs, and you usually are." A tint of blue found it's way onto the skeleton's cheeks.
"Sans, I can take care of myself, you know this." The human girl sighed. She was glad that Sans wanted to protect her, but it honestly got annoying at times. She knew he meant well, but sometimes it went a little too far, agitating her. She slowly started to close the door, telling Sans that he could leave.
Once the door finally closed, Frisk started to ask herself questions again. She really wanted them to stop, but they kept on coming naturally. When will Chara come back? What if I'm too late? What will she do to me this timeline? Will I survive this timeline? She's probably already plotting a way back into the world. I feel helpless. She told herself over and over again not to let Chara get to her head, but she couldn't help herself. The thought of being too late to stop Chara made her slowly lose her determination.
What am I supposed to do? She asked herself, hoping that she'll somehow get an answer. The day came to an end fast, Sans was getting more and more worried by the minute. His fire elemental friend told him to protect her, that's what he wanted to do. However, how could he when she locked herself in her room the entire day, not coming out to eat.
Frisk didn't even realize it was night. She sat in her room thinking, stressed, and confused about everything going on. She ignored what her body desired and kept running through outcomes of Chara's attacks. No matter what she thought of, there was always a flaw. A flaw that would cost everyone their lives.
She didn't realize she was crying until she looked down to see that drops of water had fallen down on her desk. She laughed a sad one, letting the tears fall faster down her face.
"There's nothing I can do. Nothing." She whispered to herself, crying 'till her eyes became dry. Soft, muffled sobs came from her room. She looked at her hands, they were shaking violently. Look at me, pathetic. She reminded herself. Determination slipped away from her, leaving her a shaking ball in her chair.
