Chapter 4:Lord Help Me Do What's Right

In spite of the misery of that experience,I love swimming and became good at it. I learned that if I was in the correct position and did all the right moves, just like my swimming instructor taught me , I could go forward quickly in the water .It became a smooth maneuver that would get me speedily to the other side of the giant pool.And nothing would make me falter not even turbulence from other swimmers on either side of me.

The same principle is true for you and me. If we want to successfully navigate the waters of our lives,we must position ourselves correctly and learn all the right moves.If we don't then when we come to turbulent situations we will not be able to navigatethrough them. We will end up flailing around and exhausting ourselves just trying to stay afloat.And we will never actually get anywhere.But when we position ourselves under the headship of jesus and learn to do what He requires of us ,there is a flow of the Holy spirit that will carry us wherever we need to go.

All The Right Moves
The way we learn what God expects us is by reading His Word. We can't begin to make the right moves if we dont know what they are. But that's just the beginning.We can study all we want and learn everything we are supposed to do,but we still have to do it. The swim instructor can tell us how to swim,but as some point we still have to jump in the Water.It's one thing to make a list of dos and don'ts;it's quite another to have a heart for God's ways and a soul that longs to live them out.It's one thing to read about life;its another to live it.

Obedience is something you do;having a heart to obey God and live His way is something you pray about.It's a lot easier to find out what we're supposed to be doing than it is to actually do it. That's why we need to pray ghat God will enable us to be disciplined enough to do what we need to do.

Dont get down on yourself if you dont do everything right. There is no one who can do that .That's why we need the Lord. Learning to live God's way to takes a lifetime. That's why we need thevLord.Learning to live God's way takes a lifetime. There are always new things to Learn,and we get into trouble when we think we know what to do and stol asking God if we're doing it.We can never get prideful about how perfectly we are obeying God because He is continually teaching us about His ways. And He will help us to live His way if we ask him to. All you have to say is "Lord Help me to obey You the way you want me to, so I can become the person You created me to be". We should not "grow weary while doing good,For in due season we shall reap if we do not loose Hope( Galatians 6:9)

The Things God Ask Us To Do Individually
In addition to the rules God wants everyone to obey,there are specific things He asks each one of us to do as individuals.He asks us to do these things in order to move us into the purpose He has for our lives. These are different for each person.For example,God might instruct you to learn a certain skill that He will not ask your friends to learn. He may ask you to take a certain class,work at a certain job,stop a certain activity,join a certain church,or change the way you've always done something. Whatever He asks you to do,remember He does this for your greatest blessing. It's important to pray "Lord show me what am i supposed to be doing". If you dont ask,you wont know.

Doing Things You'd Rather Not
We all have to do things we dont want to do. In even the most wonderful class or job,there are still things about it if we dont enjoy.But part of being success in life means that we do things even when we would rather not. When we do things we dont like simply because we know we need to do them, character is built in us. We become disciplined. We are formed into a leader God can trust. There is always a price to pay when we only do the things we feel like doing and dont do the things we need to do.
You have to make sacrifices for the good things you want. Whenever its hard for you to do what you know you need to do,ask the holy spirit to help you. Of course you still have to be the one to take the first step no matter how much you dont want to. But when you do,the Holy spirit will assit you the rest of the way.

Ten Good Reason To Obey God
There are many more reasons to obey God that you should know about,and i have listed ten good ones below:

1) When I obey God,he hears my prayers. "If i regard iniquity in my heart,the Lord will not hear me.But certainly God has heard me; He has attented to the voice of my prayer"
(Psalms 66:18-19)

2)When i obey God I have greater sense of His Presence in my Life. "If anyone loves me,he will keep My word;and My Father will love him,and we will come to him and make our home with him" (John 14:23)

3)When i obey God ,I have greater wisdom. "He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;He is a shield to those who walk uprightly" (Proverbs 2:7)

4) When I obey God, i prove that I am His friend. "You are my friends if you do whatever I command you" (John 15:14)

5) When I obey God,I live in safety. "You shall observe My statues and keep My Judgements,and perform them,and you will dwell in the land in safety" (Leviticus 25:18).

6) When i obey God,I become a more loving person. "Whoever keeps his word ,truly the love of God is perfected in Him"( 1 john 2:5)

7) When I obey God, good things happen to me. "Behold , I set before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing ,if you obey the commandmentsof the Lord your God which I command you today" (Deutoronomy 11:26-27).

8) When i obey God, I am happier. "Happy is he who keeps the law" (Proverbs 29:18)

9) When I obey God,I have Peace. Mark the blameless man and observe the upright,for the future of that man is peace" (Psalms 37:37)

10) When i obey God, I will live longer. "My son do not forget my law,but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you" (Proverbs 3:1-2)

Moving Into The Destiny God Has For You
God has a purpose for you.He has important things He wants you to do. And he is preparing you for your destiny right now. But you have to take steps of obedience in order to get there. And you have to trust that he knows what's best and wont hurt you in the process. God doesn't have rules in order to make your miserable. God's rule are for your benefit. When you live by them,life works. When you dont live by them,life falls apart.
"He who has my commandments and keeps them ,it is he who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father,and i will love Him and manifest Myself to Him"(John 14:21).

You never know when  you will step into a special moment for which God has been preparing you. And it is not just one moment; he has many successive ones destined for your life. God is preparing you daily for something great.Something important. But you have to be attentive to your instructor. "If anyone competes in athletics,he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules"(2 timothy 2:5).You cant swim into the mainstream of those moments successfully if you are not doing all the right moves now. But if you learn to do the right moves,you'll be ready for those special moments and whatever deep water you may find yourself in.

Prayer Power
     Lord your word says that those of us who love your law will have great peace and nothing will cause us to stumble (Psalms 119:165). I Love your law because I know it is good and it's there for my benefit. Help me to obey You in everyway so that I will not stumble and fall. If there are steps of obedience I need to take,open my eyes to see the truth and Help me to take those steps. I know I cant do all things right without Your help,so I ask  that you would help me to live in obedience to Your ways(Psalms 119:10).
     Your word says that "if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves,and the truth is not in us" (1 John 1:8). I don't want to deceive myself by not asking You where I am missing the mark You have set for my life. Reveal to me when I am not doing things I should be doing. Help me to hear to hear your specific instructions to me. Speak to me clearly through your word so I will understand what's right ad what's wrong. I dont want to grieve the Holy sprit in anything I do (Ephesians 4:30). Help me to always be learning about your ways so i can live in the fullness of your presence and move into all you have for me.
