I Joined the Choir at our Local Church. I would have to sing a song over and over all day long while I was rehearsing during our choir practice. I used to go home at night and could hardly sleep because the music and lyrics of the songs we had been working on would still be playing over and over in my mind. I could not get them out of my head.
That is what happen to us when we hear and sing praise and worship songs over and over. They continue to play in our mind,soul,and spirit,even when we are not actually worshiping God. Even when we are sleeping.
I learned that principle years ago when I first became a believer. Back when i suffered with fear and depression,many times I would wake up with a terrible feeling of fear,anxiety,anddread,and I would sing or speak praise to God until those feelings went away. It amazed me that praise always worked.
When i praised and worshiped God,it was like being hooked up to a spiritual IV. As long as I had my heart and eyes lifted to God in Worship and praise,the Joy of the Lord poured into my mind,soul,and spirit and crowded out of the darkness and depression. It worked everytime.
I started buying praise and worship songs to play in the car as we drove,in my bedroom before I went to bed,in the bathroom when I was getting ready to go some place,in the Kitchen as I was cooking something to eat,throughout the house where I was living. Sometimes I would sing along with them,but other times I would just let the music play through my mind and spirit. It amazed me that confusion,oppression,fear,or anxiety couldn't exist in the same room where praise music was being played or sung. Eventually, I got completely free from all of those negative emotions,but I still played worship music whenever I wanted to have peace and a greater sense of God's presence.
I was very surprised when I found out about the power of praising God. I learned that anytime I start feeling bad or sad or mad,if i praise God for who He is and all that He has done,those feelings will go away. Nothing we do is more powerful or more life changing. It is one of the ways God transforms us and our circumstances. Everytime we praise and worship God,His presence comes to be with us And change our attitude. It allows the Holy spirit to soften and mold our Heart into whatever way He wants it to be.
Because praise and worship is not something we naturally want to do,we have to will ourselves to do it. And because it's not something we naturally want to do, we have to will ourselves to do it. And because it's not the first thing we think of,we have to decide to do it no matter what is going on in our lives. If we are having a bad day,instead of allowing ourselves to feel miserable,we have to say, "I will praise the Lord at all times". Of course, the more we get to know God,the easier praise becomes. And the more we understand what is Accomplished in our lives when we praise Him,the more we won't be able to keep from praising Him. 12) He will not be angry with me.
13) He does not punish me like I deserve.
14) He shows special mercy when I worship Him.
15) He takes away all of my sins.
16) He has pity on me.
17) He remembers what i'm made of.
18) His Mercy towards me lasts forever.
19) He blesses me when i obey Him
20) He is the ruler of everything.
Praise Can Lift You Higher
Just like the bird knows how to find the right air current so it can be lifted off the ground and fly, there is a way for you to be lifted up so you can soar too. That is through praise and worship. And the most powerful time for that is together with other believers. When you are in a worship service At church, in a youth group,in a meeting,or in a gathering with other christians,powerful things happen in your life and in your soul that might not happen at any other time. The bible says, "In the presence of the congregation I will sing your praises" (Hebrews 2:12). Don't neglect to have times of praise alongside other believers,because as you lift God up in praise,the Holy Spirit will also lift your spirit and you will soar above everything else in your life.
Remember to "rejoice always,pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks;for this is the will of God in christ jesus for you" (1 thessalonian 5:16-18). Make praise your first reaction to the difficult things that happen to you and not an afterthought. God is always worthy of praise no matter what is happening in your life.
Prayer Power
Lord, there is nothing that makes me happier than worshipping you. I invite your presence right now as I come before you with praise for how wonderful You are. I thank you for all that you have done for me. You are great and worthy to be praised. Lord, I thank you that "You have put gladness in my heart"(Psalms 4:7)
Thank You that you are my healer, my Deliverer, my provider, my Redeemer, my Father, and my Comforter. Thank you for revealing yourself to me Through your Word; through Your son, Jesus; and through Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for your love,peace,joy,faithfulness, grace,mercy,kindness,truth, and Healing. Thank You that I can depend on you because your word are unfailling. Thank You that you are same yesterday,today, and tomorrow.
I praise your name this day, Lord,for You are good and your Mercy endures forever (Psalms 136:1). "Because Your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name" (Psalms 63:3-4). Teach me to worship you with my whole heart the way You want me to. Help me to make praise and worship of You be my first response to everything that happens to me. In Jesus name I Pray.
