"Wow." After telling him about what happened with my dad he said.
"Yeah." I look down at my fingers and pick at a peeling skin.
I had never really told anyone the full story. Not even my closest friends Danielle and Abbey. They only knew the idea of how he died. So I have no clue why I would tell a boy I know barely anything about and only met just yesterday. And not to mention I don't really paricurally like him.
But here I am telling Liam Payne about the day at the the lake with my father nine years ago.
My phone begins to buzz in my back pocket. I answer my mother on the other line, "Hello?" I answer pathetically, desperate to crawl out of the awkard conversation with Liam.
"Have you checked on him yet?"
"Yeah. I'm with him right now."
"Okay. I'm not going to be home tonight so if you need anything just call your grandmother."
"Okay. Bye, Mom." I end the call. I glance at the time which says 12:37 p.m.
"Shit." I mutter. "I have to go. I didn't realise what time it was." I stand up and begin to walk out but Liam calls after me. He stands from the bed only wearing tight boxer briefs.
I try my hardest not to look at him at all.
"Will you come back later?" The panick in his voice is actually surprising.
"Yeah. I'm just going to meet up with a friend. I'll be back later. You should eat something, too."
"Okay. Thanks Katherine."
I walk out of the room and apartment quickly.
I hurridly run to the bathroom in my apartment and dot a little concealer under the dark circles under my eyes. I only got five hours of sleep last night and it is clearly visible.
I didn't plan to stay with Liam for four hours just now. Or two hours last night.
I squirt a little perfume on my wrists and neck and reapply a little deoderant. I hurridly brush my teeth and run a brush through my straight, long brown hair.
I walk out of my apartment and take my phone out of my pocket. It takes ten minutes to walk to the movie theatre and that's about when I have to be there.
Adam: I already bought you a ticket. I'm by the concession stand.
Katherine: You didn't have to buy me a ticket! And I will be there in three minutes.
When I reach the theatre I look for Adam. The theatre is crowded, since it is Saturday. There is a big group of guys near the restrooms. Adam said he was bringing some friends. So I walk over to the group of five or six guys. I search for the tall, dark haired boy but he in nowhere in the group.
Just as I am turning toward the concession stand, someone taps my shoulders. It takes me a moment to realize the blonde haired boy in front of me is Adam.
"Hey! There you are." I giggle.
"Sorry I was in the bathroom."
"Nice hair." I say, looking up at the newly bleached hairs.
"Oh. Thanks." He runs a hand through his hair. "Want to get popcorn?"
I nod. We both slowly make our way over to the concession stand.
"One medium popcorn please." Adam cooly says to the girl behind the counter
I try to grab my wallet out of my purse but before I even can, Adam is handing a twenty dollar bill to the girl.
"Hey! I was supposed to pay!" I say with a playful scowl.
"The girl isn't supposed to pay on the date." He says giving me a small wink and smirk.
"Oh, so this is a date?" I grin.
He collects his change and takes the popcorn.
"No." He smirks again. What is it with these boys and smirking. "Unless you want it to be?" He adds.
I shake my head no. "I want to be just friends, If that's okay?" I giggle at the end getting nervous. I feel bad friend-zoning Adam so quickly into our friendship. But I don't want a boyfriend now. Maybe later.
"It's cool." He hands our tickets to a boy our age.
"Theatre number eleven." The boy says pointing to his right.
We enter the theatre and I immediately notice it is completely empty.
I walk up into the middle of the seats, with Adam following behind me.
"Gee, it's really busy, huh?" He jokes.
I giggle and take out my phone. I send a quick text to Liam just to check up on him.
Katherine: U okay?
Liam: Yep. Hope U come over later(;
Katherine: You'd be lucky
Liam: I'm feeling pretty lucky, babe.
Two hours later the movie ends. I say goodbye to Adam with a quick hug.
"See ya, Katherine."
I walk back to the apartment building. But instead of going to my own apartment, I turn to Liam's.
