-Nina Dobrev as Katherine

-Adam Levine as Adam

-Anna Kendrick as Bailey

Thanks guys! xoxo rachel

I wake to the sound of knocking at my bedroom door.

"Come in." I groan.

My mother opens the door dressed in a tan knee-length dress. "I'm off to work. Do you need anything?"

I shake my head. I look to the clock reading only 7:00 a.m.

"Okay. Well have a good first day of summer, honey." As soon as she shuts the door my head instantly meets my pillow again.

When I wake again it is only 10:27 a.m. Since my mom will be gone for most of the day and night, I decide to take advantage of being home alone.

Once I am dressed in my favorite silky sheer white blouse and high-waisted shorts, I grab an apple and my purse and head out of the apartment. I climb up the stairs to the third floor of the apartment building. Normally I would call Bailey to see if she wanted to hangout, but I really just wanted to get out of that apartment as soon as possible.

I knock on her apartment door. After what feels like years her brother, Drew answers the door.

"Oh hey Katherine. I see you finally want to take me on that date right?" He grins and fails to wink at me.

"Shut up you loser." Drew is Bailey's older brother. He is two years older than her, but will only be a senior next year. When my mom and I first moved into the apartment when I was in fourth grade, Drew was the first friend I made. Later on his mom introduced me to Bailey. Sometimes I find Drew to be a better person to hang out with than Bailey but I would never admit that out loud. "Is Bailey here?" I ask.

"Uh, no I think she spent the night at someone's house last night."

"Oh alright." If I was still in elementary school, I would go inside their apartment and play Mario with Drew, but once he go into high school all he does is flirt with me. Of course he is joking... I think. So hanging out with Drew doesn't really sound fun anymore.

"Well, I'll see you around Kathy." He closes the door.

Since this town is so small, all my other friends live in walking distance. Well, I only have two other friends. I wouldn't call myself antisocial or anything. I'm just not outgoing and never felt the need to make any other friends. My small group of three people at school was always enough for me.

I decide to call my friend Danielle and see what she is up to.

"Hello?' She picks up on the second ring. Typical Danielle. She is always on her phone. Always.

"Hey Danielle."

"Hey girl, what's up?"

"You know the usual... nothing." We both giggle.

"I was actually just about to call you and Abbey! How funny. I was going to call and see if you guys want to go to the mall. My mom isn't going to work today so she can drive us there."

"Okay sounds cool. What time are you coming to get me?"

I hear her yell on the other end of the line asking her mom the time. "She said eleven."

"Okay. See you, Danielle." I end the call.
