Chapter Twenty Two

I arrive back at the hotel and go into my room.

When I walk in I see Joe asleep on the bed. I set my keys away and go lie down on my stomach next to him so that I'm facing him.

I run my hand through his hair and he fidgets a little.

"I'm back babe." I say and smile. He doesn't say anything. He just rolls over on his other side.

He's probably half asleep and didn't really hear me.

I just get up and go change for bed. Usually when I get back after not seeing Joe he wakes up and kisses me, but he didn't this time.

A few weeks have passed and I'm in New York for a movie audition. 

Joe is meeting me tonight. He's been in London for a little while doing interviews.

Its getting pretty late and I'm taking a subway train to the other side of the city.

I'm on the train and I'm standing up holding onto a pole. Four guys enter the train and all look at me.

I just look away from them and mind my own business. 

They all sit next to each other and are whispering and laughing as well as looking at me in perverted ways.

"Hey you." I look at them when they start talking to me.

"You wanna hang with us tonight?" One of them says.

"No thank you." I say and look away. I go and sit down in an empty seat so that I'm not standing anymore.

"Oh why not. It'll be fun." Another says and they all get up.

"I'm good. I'm busy anyways." I say and try to ignore them. 

They all take seats surrounding me and practically cornering me. 

"Hey man you mind if I sit next to my girlfriend?" I look up and see a guy with dark sunglasses and a hoodie.

"Girlfriend?" The guy sitting closest to me says and looks at the guy.

"Yeah. You kind sitting somewhere else?" He asks again and the dude gets up and leaves with his friends to sit somewhere else.

"Hey Babe how was your day?" The guy says and then I recognize his voice.

"It was good. Yours?" I ask playing along. 

"Same as always." He says and then smiles at me.

The guys got off at the next stop and once he did it was just me and Shawn on the train.

"Oh my God thank you." I say and Shawn reveals his face.

"No problem. I got on and was surprised to see you. Then I saw how scared you looked." He says and I nod.

"I was scared." I say.

"So how everything going?" He asks me.

"Really good. I'm here for an audition." I say and he nods.

"Really? Me too." He says and I smile.

"How funny. Well I hope you do well." I say and he smiles.

"Thanks. You know I was actually going to text you the other day." He says.

"Why didn't you?" I ask him.

"Just got side tracked I guess." He says and shrugs a little.

I nod and then there is a short silence between use

"How's Joe?" 

I look at Shawn when he asks me this.

"He's doing good. He's actually meeting me for dinner. Do you want to come? My manger will be there too so you won't be intruding." I say.

"Yeah that sounds cool." He says and I smile nod. "Joe won't mind will he? You know with me being your ex and all." Shawn says and we both laugh a little.

"I'm glad that we can joke about that now." I say and laugh a little more. "I uh-I actually never told him that we dated." I say.

"Really?" 

"Yeah. He just thinks we were friends because of my brother." I say and he nods. "It's awful of me. I know. I just couldn't tell him. He gets so jealous sometimes and I didn't want to start anything because I do like being friends with you." I say and Shawn nods.

"I understand. I won't say anything." He says and I smile.

I really don't know how Joe would react if he knew that Shawn was my ex.

The chapters from here on out will be shorter so that the story will last a little longer.
