"Hello. Do you know where you are?" A voice brought me from my sleep. I looked around and slowly sat up.  I was resting on a cold table in the middle of a large room with bright screens of blue and green.  There were shelves stacked with books and test tubes.  There was an odd jar filled with red liquid and an odd lump.

The only person there was a man in a white coat and older woman.  She was wearing all black and her hair was straight.  She had a pair of glasses and bright red heels.  She was holding a clipboard in front of her and watched me as I slowly slid off the table.  "What?"

"Do you know where you are?" It wasn't the woman speaking.  It was the man with a gentle voice in the white lab coat.  He walked towards me and crouched down.

"N-no. Should I?" I furrowed my brows and studied his face.  he had dull blue eyes and he was extremely tall, but crouched down he wasn't as tall.  He was pale and had a small beard with small grey hairs mixed in with the black stubble.

"No, you should not. Do you feel okay?" He studied me intensely as I thought thoroughly about how to answer that question.

"I'm a bit tired.  Is that okay?"

He smiled.  "It's completely fine.  It's good actually."

I smiled in return. "Well, then I guess I'm doing good."

"That's great.  This is the Chancellor.  She's in charge here, so you're going to listen to her, okay?" He shifted out of the way as the Chancellor made intense eye contact with me. She made me feel nervous like I had somehow already messed up.  She raised her chin and glared at me through her glasses.

"Happy birthday, Alpha.  You will only call me Chancellor.  I will be speaking to you through this." She held her hand out.  In it was a small grey object.

"What is it?" I cautiously picked it up and held it in my hand.

"It's an earpiece.  You will wear it at all times, except when showering.  I can contact you through it.  Dr. Mason can help you put it on.  He's going to show you around.  If I need, I'll talk to you later." She didn't even wait for me to nod or respond before she turned and shoved through a pair of double doors.

Dr. Mason took the earpiece from my hand and slid it into my ear.  I furrowed my brows and moved my hand to touch it.  "At first it might feel weird but I promise it'll feel normal if you just leave it be," he said gently.

I let out a slow breath and nodded, dropping my hand to my side.

"Not much of a talker, eh? It's okay. Do you want me to show you around?" He was still crouched in front of me.

I nodded sheepishly.  He beamed and stood up, holding his hand down to me.

I looked at his hand skeptically before grabbing onto it.

"Alpha, you're special.  You're going to change the word

My voice trembled as I glanced around.

"Your stats are as follows. You are Alpha, age five, rank 1, points 0. Have a nice day," the voice rang out even though the video had ended.

"Alpha, would you like anything?" The male robotic voice asked.

"What is your name?" I asked looking around for a speaker that emitted the voice.

"I am the lab assistant. I am here for your use.  You can call me whatever you'd like," He chimed.

"I'm gonna call you Spot," I beamed and looked around.
