The Party

I sat down and started drinking my Shirley Temple, waiting for anything interesting to happen. The party was on this platform that was kind of checkered like a game of chess, and a nice tart sheeted rooftop, it was nicely decorated with sheets too. Robin appeared and sat down next to me, she looked tired so I let her lay down on my chest. She looked peaceful, quiet, but also disturbed. I asked her if anything's wrong but she just shrugged her shoulders and said nothing. She then turned her head to me and told me that Eliana was here. Eliana Gomez is my best friend, I knew her since 5th grade, she's the only person so far who knows about my dark side. I asked Robin where she was and Robin said she was by the bar, but seemed to be bothered by something. I got up holding Robin and place her down on the chair, I gave here my coat so she doesn't get cold and walked over to the bar. I saw Eliana there kind of bothered by something. She had dark black wavy almost straight hair, and mid-moderate to olive skin, but green eyes which was rare for someone with her appearance, but she get it from a head trauma when she was younger.
I sat down next to her and asked, "So Eli what's wrong with you?", waiting three minutes for an answer.
She started stirring her drink finally speaking, "Nothing, just sad to see us all grow up, also saw your work on the news station a lot lately."
"Well some of it isn't me, there's a copycat on the loose and no one knows. But let's stay on your topic, yeah true it is really sad, but it was bound to happen sometime or later."
"Yeah but next thing you know we'll all have families, and then get ready for the kids to go to college, or getting ready for retirement."
"I know what'll make you feel better, remember that day we took your mom's car and snuck out to Six Flags."
"Yeah, just hated the fact I threw up on one of their roller coasters."
"I'm more surprised that you and Robin were even tall enough to get on even one of the roller coasters, Skylar too she shocked me also, but the point is we felt alive and for the rest of these years we can have that feeling again."
"No consequences though, right?"
"No consequences, unless you have to work the next morning and your hungover, then you're going to have to face that, but besides that no."
"What if you and Robin move away, then what will be of me?"
"One we're pretty sure we're not moving away from the city, two you're my best friend I'll never leave you alone, three even if that still happened then I'll do my absolute best to visit you."
"You're an amazing friend."
"You too." I looked up to noticed Alex walking in towards the party. I got up and walked towards him pointing him on his shoulder. I explained to him that Lucious wanted to talk to him and pointed towards him telling him to go talk to him. He walked over with no hesitation or hesitation. I watched them as they talked, wondering if Lucious truly believed that Alex was the killer, or copycat at least.
He got up and they shook hands, they then started going separate ways. I walked over to Lucious and asked him what he knows and what he's been told.
"What were his answers, Lucious?", I asked politely.
He answered back, "I asked him if he has any knowledge of Dean and Jenny's purchase of their car and he said no."
      I nodded towards him slowly.
"I also asked if he was in the city yesterday, to see if he had a different answer then told before, he said he was up in White Plans partying."
       I nodded towards him again.
"I also checked his phone to see if there was any suspicious text messages. He didn't applied so tomorrow I'm going to bring him to police headquarters  with a warrant and check it myself."
I got up and went towards the bar, I turned my head and saw Robin and Eliana laughing with and talking to each other. I ordered gin with some Coconut rum, and asked him to pore some Dr. Pepper in it. I got my drink and almost finished it right away. Alex came down to sit next to me and he started ranting on about Lucious and how he was being unfair for accusing him for the murder and that he didn't want anyone on his phone cause he believes that's privacy that should be someone's choice to go into. I couldn't blame him though, if someone asked to go through my phone I'll say no, well I'm a murderer so I can't judge. I finished my drink and walked towards Robin who just finished her conversation with Eliana, she was holding a gray marker, the marker was a little bitten at the top. I asked her to come with me for a nice surprise, she didn't want to at first but I got her to come along. We walked down the the other side of the stone path down to the giant pond. Suddenly as we got over the hill as saw the pond, it had glowing flowers floating right at the top. It was a beautiful sight to see, especially with the city lights behind the trees, it was breathtaking but normal at the same time. We heard music play and we slowly danced to it, it was a moment I wanted time to stop. To forever live that moment with her would be a dream come true, sadly though we had to go forward with time. We both wanted to stop forever in that moment, the dance, the scene, the kiss, everything. We both although knew that we had to continue and after a little while, after taking in the breathtaking view one more time. We decided to walk back to the party, maybe another couple will enjoy the moment, maybe it'll be the couple with the guy who fell in the lake earlier.
We walked slowly to the party and I saw some people around our table. They started arguing over something, one of them was Tristen, they just kept on yelling and yelling, until one of them pushed the chair. It all came back to me, the slow motion viewing of the scene. The chair moved to the side, fast to them but slow to me. The fishing wire tightened and was moved to the side, the candlestick shifted and fell. The gasoline spill right on to Tristen's feet and the candle lit the fuel, Tristen eyes widened as he knew what was going to happen next. He was engulfed in flames and yelled in agony. The table and candlestick soon followed behind him, one of the students rushed to put out out the fire. I watched and noticed that the fishing wire was burning up too, burning away the evidence. The student called the ambulance to rush Tristen to the hospital, I wasn't sure if he was still alive. They rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
I was assigned to look over the scene of the crime after everyone left. I looked at the scene and noticed something placed directly on the crime scene. It was gray marker, kind of used, but looks new. I turned to Robin who was waiting outside the scene for me, she had her marker. It was clearly obvious now, the university gave our class free tickets to Walkman Skating arena, so they'll use it so their name wouldn't be on the guess list. They had to known Dean and Jenny to target them, unless those two were for fun. They had to have been invited to this party to join, or at least known about it. Three strikes you're out, it was clear now this person knows something about my class. I was one step closer to knowing who the copycat murderer is, good thing though, this was one big step to achieve. This information can go long yet short, I have to use the best of my knowledge to find their identity. If I don't find out soon enough, they might come for me.
