Chapter 8
It was Friday and Vice usually takes Tristan out on Fridays after school, but since Tristan was still working on his project, the kid requested to go home and invited Vice for dinner because there were still a few more scenes that they need to film.
"Tristan, you can film later. Dinner first." Karylle said when she saw Tristan preparing the camera equipment in the living room. Tristan planned to film Vice and him playing Mario Kart on his PS2. He's really excited but his excitement needs to wait after dinner.
"Help your Dada set the table." She ordered before going back to the kitchen.
Tristan made his way to the dining area and helped Vice set the table. Vice placed the plates while Tristan put the utensils on each side of the plates.
Dinner went well though Tristan ate a little too fast. In just 10 minutes, he was done and was thanking his mom for the delicious meal before getting up and putting his plate on the kitchen sink and dashing his way to the living room. Karylle just shook her head before putting a spoonful of food into her mouth. Vice was sitting across her, and his exaggerated moan caught her attention. He obviously did that on purpose to get her to look at him which he succeeded. Karylle looked at him with knitted brows.
"What? It's delicious." He said innocently before putting another spoonful of food into his mouth and another moan elicited from him. Karylle just rolled her eyes at him.
"You're being weird. Bilisan mo na dyan para masamahan mo na yung isa dun." Karylle then leaned forward, "Prepare yourself," and she put a hand on the side of her mouth to prevent Tristan from hearing what she was about to say before whispering, "he can be really competitive." Vice glanced at Tristan at the living room, the kid was too focused on the game, his lips pursed and his hands gripped tight on the controller. He chuckled softly and turned his face back to Karylle.
Once they were done eating, Vice tidied up the plates and volunteered to help Karylle wash the dishes. She refused at first but Vice was very persistent so she had no choice but to let him help her with the dishes. He told her that the work would be done a lot faster if he helped out.
"Oo na, ang dami mo pang sinasabi e." She said while carrying the plate of the leftover food to the kitchen and Vice followed her with the dishes on his hands. Karylle covered the leftover food with a cellophane before putting the plate inside the fridge. Vice placed the dishes on the sink and rolled up his sleeves before turning on the faucet.
They decided to team up and divide the work: Vice would be in charge of washing the dishes while Karylle would be in charge of drying the plates with a towel.
Tristan just finished a game and realized that both of his parents were not in the dining area. He stood up and walked towards the socket where he plugged in the charger of the camera earlier. When he saw that it was fully charged, he plugged out the charger and inserted back the battery in his camera. His eyebrow quirked as he heard a familiar laugh coming from the kitchen. He followed the sound and stopped outside the kitchen as he spotted his parents splashing soap water at each other.
A big smile formed on the kid's face at the scene and he immediately took his camera and recorded that very moment.
"Ano ba, Vice. You're such a child!" She chuckled while splashing soap water at him, his shirt now soaked in soap water.
