I stood in the doorway as the night chill brushed through my skin. I pulled Miley away from our hug and she smiled.
"Will you be back tomorrow?" She asked sweetly.
I sighed and squeezed her arms. "I don't know," I replied and she nodded. "I'll call you when I can, is that okay, babe?"
Her lips curved into a wider smile and puffed out a warm breath into the cold night. "Of course," She said before I slipped my fingertips off of her skin.
"Bye," She mouthed as she waved her hand in the air.
I slid into my car seat and waved back at her. I saw her crossing her arms over her chest as I brought the engine to life and pulled the car into reverse.
Time for some answers.
----------
Joe opened the door abruptly after I had literally banged on it once I had arrived at his residence.
His brows furrowed, his expression was angry with a hint of confusion. He placed his hand on his hips while the other rested on the door handle.
"What the fuck?" He protested.
I walked past him and forced myself into his house before looking around the huge entrance room. I turned to him closing the door with his brows still slightly furrowed.
"Where's dad?" I blurted "He was here a few hours ago,"
Joe rubbed his forehead and scoffed. "After weeks of not seeing each other you couldn't greet me with a simple hello?" He sarcastically joked.
I clicked my tongue and tilted my head. "Where's he?" I repeated.
"He's in the guest room, he's probably asleep, he went in there an hour ago." He said and I rushed to the stairs.
I was probably being too mean to Joe. I hadn't seen him for some time, we only went to a few lunches or event.
The only thing that brought us close together was when Kevin had the baby. But that was 3 months ago and we stopped talking again.
I reached the guest room door and knocked on it lightly before opening it and peeked inside.
The room was dark but I can see a small source of light that illuminated a desk table.
I stick my head inside and called out as softly as I could. "Dad?"
I heard a few paper rustling and I decided to come into the room to found Dad seated in front of a desk with a book in front of him.
"Oh," he exclaimed in surprise "its you, Nick."
I walked in further into the room as Dad closed his book and rose to his feet. He adjusted his glasses and turned to me.
"What is it, son?" He asked.
He was dressed in his pajamas, and I stood before him with a pair of jeans and a casual shirt that I had been wearing since this morning.
I shoved my hands into my pocket and raised my gaze to him. "Dad, I'm still confused about all of this," I said.
Dad sighed and nodded. "Well I hadn't have the chance to really explain it to you," He said. "After all, you walked away."
"How do I know this is true?" I asked, ignoring him. His eyes snapped to mine.
"Well, the Culpo's first told me, and I went to meet this girl a few months ago when the baby was born." He explained. "We took a DNA test and..." He trailed off.
