Miley's POV

I glanced at Nick who was curling into his seat over my shoulder as I scurried to the dim lit back door.

A bright light came spilling into the alleyway followed by the sound of a car pulling near. Mom waved behind the windows as she stopped in front of me.

I walked around to reach the passenger door and took a quick glance of Nick bending down to his lap quietly.

I climbed into the seat after I clicked open the handle. "Hi Mom," I greeted, closing the door.

Mom looked over my shoulder and spotted Nick's car. My heart started beating loudly againts my chest, I bet if the engine wasnt roaring so loudly I could've heard my heart beat.

"Whose car is that?" She asked, her eyes slightly squinting. I turned around and pretend to look. "Oh," I exclaimed.

"That, is..." I hesitated as I racked my brain for a random name. But it didnt came "That's the janitor's car"

I am such a bad liar.

Mom's forehead crinkled as she pulled the car into reverse."a janitor with a Mustang?" She guessed.

"Y-yeah," I respond "It's an old car, he probably got it from an old car...shop."

Her eyebrows raised, admiring the shining paint. "Looks new," She said.

"Well, he's a janitor...he must've cleaned it a lot," I muttered

The car had finally found it's way to the main road. "Yeah, must've," Mom responded, clearly wanting to get over the subject.

I slumped in my seat and sighed quietly in relief. "So, what did the producers say?"

--------------

"Thanks for the ride," I called to Mom as I slammed the door behind me.

"Mile, can you tell Dad to come home?" She shouted over the window while I have reached my entrance door.

"Dad?" I mumbled confusedly. "You mean call him?" I raised my voice.

The door flew open and I turned my head to see a tall figure standing at the entrance of my door.

"Oh," I mumbled when I saw Dad. "Mom wants you to come home," I said pointing to Mom's car.

He looked over my shoulder and called "I'm gonna spend the night here, Tish!"

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I heard Mom's car driving away. "You're staying tonight?" I asked.

Dad cocked his head to inside of the house and said "Come inside, I need'a talk to ya."

I followed him inside without another question. I walked over Dad and he closed the door behind me.

I led him to the living room and we sat down on the couch. I placed my hands on my lap and waited for him to speak.

He took a deep breath and scratched the back of his neck desperately.

I grew impatient and finally decided to break the silence. "What Is it, Dad?" I asked with steady voice.

His eyes darted to me and I stared at him back confidently. I didnt do anything this time, why does he look like I have?

"Miley, I know you have been seeing that boy,"

The words came out of his mouth seemed like a thousand needles to my throat.

My eyes widened and I felt a sharp stinging feeling to my chest. I almost cringed.

"Dad, I.." My voice trailed off, I have nothing else to say, my throat closed up and I felt tears forming behind my eye lids.

This could mean our relationship is coming to an end. My heart aches. I may not see him again, and the last glance I saw of him was his body being curled in attempt to hide.

Dad stood up from his seat and threw his head back desperately. "Your lucky it was me who found out,"

Lucky? The last time he caught us he punched Nick to the ground and left bruises on his body.

"If it was your mother," He continued "She wouldn't wait for an explanation,"

That's true, she wouldn't. I felt a wave of relief wash over me. Maybe I can still fix this.

"Mile, what do you see in this boy?" He asked.

My breath got caught in my throat. I knew just how to respond. But i'm still wondering how he'd respond to the words I was going to say.

And those cheesy life quotes somehow made sense.

The one that goes 'You'll never know until you try,'

Or in my case, you'll never know until you attempt suicide.

I closed my eyes to stop the tears from leaking out. And with one sharp breath I opened them again.

I turned my head to him and voice cracked.

"I love him,"

Dad stood quietly in front of me, not moving a muscle, no head turning desperately, no eyes widening shockingly, no jaw falling into a drop.

Just complete silence. And finally came a small nod. He walked to me slowly until he placed himself next to me on the couch.

And all these assumptions of him trying to say all those things telling me to forget him, to move on, to get rid of him.

And the tears finally rolled out of my eyes and down my cheek. And a small, brave voice creeped out of my mouth "Are you going to do something about it?"

Dad's arms came around me and pulled me into a hug. "No," He sighed, and I almost couldn't believe him. "I understand, Miles,"

"No one should get in the away of two people who are in love," He said.

"But, mom-"

"We all know she's not his biggest fan," Dad said "I wont tell her, don't you worry, child."
