[twelve → grayson ; broken wrist]
— location: living room, at the house
seven days after prom and our relationship had changed. ethan rarely comes home but when he does, it's just to sleep and do homework. ethan is gone before i can wake up and ethan's locked in his room, or hanging out with maisie, when i arrive.
how quiet the house was scared me, deeply terrified me. i never knew of the possibility of it being so quiet and ... alone. i hated the silent treatment ethan was giving me, i haven't been able to find the strength to hang out with ava.
once school ended, i would head for practice and then home. i was inspired enough to hang out with them, maisie and ethan's relationship has changed. almost like a change in the atmosphere? they've seem more happier and closer.
i sat in the empty living room watching a show on the television. i thought watching television could help relax the stress i've been experiencing, all that's been mounted onto my broad shoulders. but actually, it made me think more of it.
i felt something overcoming me, i felt out of my body — like i was watching from the outside in. i looked around looking for something to punch, all i saw were the many windows the surrounded the room.
i took one step forward and glared at it. suddenly, i felt driven by this unknown emotion and how it was overcoming me. next thing i know my fist is going through a window.
i yelled in agonizing pain, my wrist has a few shards sticking out. blood poured down and dripped onto the white carpet, i knew my mom would scold me later. a few seconds later and the pain became more unbearable, i kept moaning in pain. i hoped and hoped someone would find me and help.
a few scattered footsteps became receding from upstairs as they came downstairs. the footsteps became pacing faster towards the living and room. a shadow crept into the double white door and there stood ethan.
"what happened?" ethan asked as he grew closer, which was when he began to see my right hand. blood oozed out even more, by now the carpet had the biggest red stain on it. "how the hell did this happen?"
"we can work out the details later but can we start heading to the hospital? this is hurting like a motherfucker!" ethan nodded before running into the dining room, i headed towards the door where i saw ethan scrambling around.
"where's my keys?!" ethan frustratingly groaned. he threw around everything that laid on the table, papers, letters, a few decorations, everything.
"fuck! just take mom's minivan for gods sake." ethan took the key off the handle and unlocked the doors as he helped me into them. i gripped even harder on my wrist, trying to prevent it from spilling into the car seats.
ethan notices and hurdles a shirt from the back seat, i catches it with my left hand and open up the material. it was a lavender crew neck, one that was given to our mother from last christmas. ethan helped wrap it around my wrist and tied it using the sleeves.
"help put my seatbelt on so we don't get stopped." i instructed. ethan removed his seat belt as he put it over my body before clicking his back in. he started up the van as they headed towards the hospital.

— location: the hospital
by the time we get there, the blood had seeped enough through the crew neck. we arrived at the hospital just in time before i would lose too much blood and would've lost all feelings in my hand. the doctor round clock checked to make sure the glasses didn't hit any nerve, which luckily it didn't.
ethan cuddled his feet close to his chest on a chair on the far right of the room. he loudly snored as and fidgeted as he tried to find a more comfortable way. ethan draped his head on the arm rest and it was seen how uncomfortable it must be.
"mr. dolan?" a nurse knocked into the room. startled, ethan jumped up. ethan sheepishly rubbed his tired eyes as he locked eyes with the nurse. "you may leave, all is taken care of. the cast has to be kept on for a while though, a bore." she turned to ethan and said, "make sure he doesn't do any activities, it might injure it even worse."
ethan stood up and yawned as he nodded. he walked towards me and offered a hand, which of course i took. i wouldn't be able to do normal things with one hand anymore! better to patch up things with ethan now, that way ethan would be able to help later.
we walked down the semi-quiet hallways, people loudly sobbing and moaning was heard from a distance. i hated hospital, it always brought a bad feeling into me. an unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach.
"so are you going to tell me how you got glass in your hand?" ethan turned to me and stated, "and i want the absolute truth. i can't cover for the broken glass, the amount of blood all around the house and for your broken hand — which by the way, is a good thing. now you won't be able to do anything for nerve."
"i-uh, have no clue." to me, the scenario that went down was a blur. everything happened so fast and suddenly. "and it's not a good thing, how will i play now? derek's going to take my spot as the team captain on the football team! and you know how much he loves bragging about these types of things."
"don't worry, you can join in one of my clubs for the quarter and transfer back to football. that way you won't feel useless." ethan comforted.
"i don't want to join the mathletes! that thing is for losers." i defensively stated. "no offense."
"well, good. i didn't want my too-good of a brother there." as ethan open the car door for me, he looked thoughtfully into my eyes. "you better find a good excuse and fast, mom doesn't play like this."
