Lily's POV
"You can't catch me!" I yell through the mind link to Xavier. Xavier is going to be Alpha in a week. He and I are "Glued to the hip" as Father says. I guess it's true, we do everything together. He is so protective of me, if an unmated male even looks at me, he loses it, but I don't really mind. I am still a bit nervous around other Alpha's; I probably always will be. Thanks to Blake.
The good thing now is that I can protect myself. Father taught me how to a year after being here. I was walking around outside, and I saw two wolves fighting. I immediately became obsessed. I watched them every day secretly because I knew if Father found out he would be livid.
Xavier caught me watching them one day and convinced Father to let me train. I am the best fighter now. I'm thinking of asking Xavier if I can be a pack warrior. My wolf is strong, she never backs down from a challenge, if anything she embraces the challenge as a way to make us better. I hope he lets me.
I get pulled out of my thoughts by Xavier shouting, "I can catch you any day." He wishes. He is just a little bit faster than me, but I would never tell him that. I leap over a fallen log and start to run faster. I can hear him gaining on me, his heart pounding, his breathing coming in quicker.
I speed up more, when I reach a good few feet in front of him, I look at my surroundings. It's so beautiful. Watching the tree's fly fast me, feeling wind through my fur, and hearing the birds sing. I love runs. Sometimes my wolf desperately needs to be let out, to be in the woods, in nature, in the wild. It'll happen out of nowhere.
I'm too busy looking around, and I get tackled by Xavier. I playfully growl at him, and he growls back. We then trot over to our place we stumbled upon a couple years ago. It's the most breathtaking view. It's a giant pond that narrows as it nears the rocks with the waterfall pouring down it. I trot over behind a tree and shift back. I throw on a pair of black shorts, and a purple tank top.
I walk out a see Xavier is sitting by the pond, his feet dipping into the water. I walk over, and sit next to him, sinking my feet in with his. He puts his arm around me, and pulls me closer, still looking out into the water. I can tell something is bothering him, he is usually always talking to me. "What's wrong?" I ask, worried about my brother. He looks at me, I can see worry in his eyes. I guess you can say it's a gift of mine, knowing what people are feeling.
"Nothing." He says, but I know him better than that. "You can tell me anything. You know that." I tell him. He chuckles. "You know me too well " He says. "So..." I say, hinting at him to tell me, nudging his shoulder with mine. "What if I'm a bad Alpha to the pack? Dad is a great Alpha, he's kind, he's smart and he always knows exactly what to say. How can I be that great?" He asks, staring into the water. I look at him shocked. "You will be an amazing Alpha, Xavier. I know it." I tell him, my wolf pulsing behind my eyes, letting him know she wholeheartedly agrees with me.
"You know for someone who is the second strongest and scariest werewolf in the world, you're a big softy." I hit him in the shoulder playfully as he lets out a chuckle at me. "What do you mean second?" I ask him. "Well obviously, I'm the first." He speaks. "Oh, we'll see about that." I say, then I tackle him.
We messed around for a while, we shifted, and now we are racing back to the house. I'm in the lead. I can tell Xavier is teasing me, he keeps speeding up then slowing down. He's trying to push me, and my wolf. Trying to get us stronger. I don't mind, I like the challenge.
We reached the house, and I trot behind a tree, and toss on my clothes. I walk out and see dad. I run up to him and jump on him. He laughs and wraps his arms around me. "Hey, little one." He says. "Hey, dad." I say. He sets me down. Xavier walks over to us. "You need to go get in better clothes, Lily. I don't want males looking at you." He speaks.
I groan and look at dad for help. "He's right. You need to get in proper clothes. You're an alpha female a lot of males will try to claim you as theirs." Dad says. He isn't wrong though; males go for the strongest female they can find when they haven't found their mate and here, I'm at the top of the list. My wolf and I can handle ourselves against the males any day but doing that with cost our pack and so, for the sack of our pack, I sigh and start walking in the house.
