Chapter 4: Who am I?

After 4 more periods school was over.

Julia was at her locker ready to get to the bottom of this mystery.

"JEWELS!" Gabby yelled. "How did you run so fast in P.E. today?" Gabby asked "I did? Hm well might have felt motivated today. Gotta go bye." Julia said quickly. "Hey, stop, STOP, JULIA!" Gabby hustled to get closer to Julia. "WHAT?! What do you want from me Baby Bear? You know what.. You know what I said this morning to you?" Julia asked. "Yeah you had something to tell me." Gabby restated. "Yes! Ride the bus and come home with me. I've got some news that might wanna make your head pop right off!" Julia told her happily. "OMG! Did Angelina and Brad get back together!?" Gabby asked. "What no! They're still apart. Come on the buses are about to leave!" Julia said pulling on Gabby's arm. "Wait I didn't get my stu-" "Already got it leggo!" Julia said.

Right on time to board the bus. Julia sat down and let go of Gabby's arm and unbraided her hair and flicked it back and forth. "Pthh, Aye watch where your hair goes!" Gabby told her. "Sorry Baby Bear."Julia apologized. Once the bus made it to Julia's house, Julia took Gabby inside and rushed upstairs. "Hi.. Honey? Ok bye." Mrs. Wattson said.

"This must be important. You always say hi to your mom before you do anything." Gabby said. "I *grunts* know right? Hold this." Julia said handing Gabby her phone. "I'm gonna change in the bathroom BRB." Julia told her. "Take your time, no one is stopping you." Gabby said sarcastically.

Looking in the dirty mirror (social media reference) she saw the dark yellow fur only more of it was growing. *Scream!!* "You ok in there? Need help?" Gabby asked while looking through Julia's phone. "NO.. I mean no I don't thanks! And you better not be looking through my texts young lady!" Julia said angrily. "Oh TRUST ME I'm not. *ok bff you talk to Brandon Williams. I see you*" Gabby whispered.

Julia put on her pink (not the company the color this time) PJ's and told Gabby everything the last thing Julia remembers is that hilarious look on Baby Bear's face.

The next day Julia got dressed and put her hair in a long braid like last time and headed out without any breakfast.

The bus arrived and Gabby had a really angry face and she didn't want Julia to sit next to her this morning. Julia tried to but every time Gabby would slap her and just tell her to leave in her own way. So Julia would sit in the back of the bus like a good kid instead of the front like always.

More and more along the day Gabby ignored Julia like she was a ghost or invisible to her. Julia knew this would happen not telling her best friend a HUGE secret like that. Although it has been 3 THREE WHOLE DAYS!! But you know whatever... Anyway let's get back to the story.

Julia sits by herself all lunch, Katherine comes over and tries to comfort her from kinda losing her best friend.

"Cheer up mijá. Surely she will come around and forgive you for whatever you did to her." Katherine said.

"Thanks Kat but, I should have told her the first day it happened. Thanks anyway." Julia said sadly. Walking away to her locker and putting herself in it Julia shut herself out from the world.

Night time at school.

Dark and quiet hallways. Loneliness had never felt so bad. Then Julia heard footsteps, leaning closer and closer and closer to her locker. Then the person unlocked her locker. Without a doubt it was Gabby with strips of water on her face, she is obviously sorry for all of that abusing she did on the bus.

"I-I'm sorry Jewels. *sniffles* I should have never have shut you out like that. I understand why you didn't tell me. You were afraid that I would think that you are crazy,but when you showed me that spot with fur.. I got so angry at you because I thought.. why in the world would she keep that and not tell me so I ignored you all day and.." Gabby said tearfully while helping Julia up. "It's ok Baby Bear, I should have told you the first day that it happened. But promise me that you won't tell anyone about this until I'm ready. By the way how did you even get in? This place has massive security. " Julia asked putting her arm around Gabby's neck. "You know my uncle right? Well he works for the police force and I "borrowed" his badge. They didn't believe me so I showed them a photo of me and him together for my 17th birthday." Gabby explained. "Oh yeah that's when I met your uncle. He's a pretty cool dude to be around." Julia coplemented.

Both girls laughed on the way back to their neighborhoods. Waving good-bye to each other, they went their separate ways. At Julia's house her parents were worried sick about where she's been all day. But they weren't mad, just happy that she was safe and home. At Gabby's house her aunt and uncle were also happy to see her. But her uncle put his hand out and Gabby gave her his badge. Both families were happy but, Julia felt weird again. Later that night she grew cheetah-like ears. The next morning she looked in the mirror and saw the ears and more for the fur growing on her skin. That is when she knew that she had to confront her parents about what is going on with her.
