It was reaching 10 o'clock and I paced my tiny cottage as I waited for Craig to come over.

I must have looked in the mirror one hundred times that night before finally surrendering to the fact that I couldn't make my blotchy skin look even.

I touched and ruffled my hair that I had just straightened and tucked and un-tucked it from behind my ears.

I must have changed my outfit three times and finally just settled on a pair of cropped dark blue jeans and a white blouse. I slipped on a pair of old Deck shows before setting the booze I had bought at the store earlier today.

I had picked up a 2-4 of Corona extra, a mickey of gin and some more vodka coolers for me and Craig to drink.

I was nervous. I didn't know where the night would be headed but I was also excited at the fact that I got to spend some more time with Craig.

I heard a rustling threw the trees and then a small knock on my door.

It was Craig.

I took a deep breath to steady myself before I opened the door.

"Hiya" I said opening the door widely.

"Hey there bud" he said smiling.

Tonight he wore a grey snapback, a red plaid button down and black shorts. The shorts showed off his calf muscles and I tried not to stare.

As he walked in his eyes flickered around the room, taking in all the sights of my tiny cottage.

"How was shopping" he asked turning to me.

"Good, I picked up a few drinks. Do you want one?" I offered and he took one of the beer's.

I cracked one open too and took a big sip.

"So..." I started

"Wanna sneak out?" I asked

Laughing he answered me.

"Sneak out? And where would we go"

Hmm good point.

"Well... I know of this great place down the river, we could take one of my uncles boats" I smiled deviously at him hoping he would agree.

"Hmm I like the way your brain works hottie" he said and took another huge swig of his beer.

Before we left we packed a few blankets and snacks and brought the vodka coolers and beers with us and put them into the boat.

I had talked to Aggy after dinner and fed her a lie about me being sick and she told me that she would care for my Grandmother in the morning so that I could get better.

I felt bad for lying but really didn't want to run away from Craig again if he ended up staying over. Plus I had spent a lot of the afternoon with my Grandmother and she was happy just being with Aggy and Gordo.

Craig and I paddled the boat out into the middle of the lake so that the engine didn't wake up anyone and then gunned it as we headed off in the mystery direction.

I didn't know exactly where the spot was but I had been there before and remembered the general direction.

Throughout the ride Craig finished off two beers and two vodka coolers and I matched his count except for I had one less cooler.

After twenty minutes of driving I recognized the spot. I could see the massive rope swing hanging off the trees from the island in the middle of the lake. There it was. The last time I was here I was with my Grandpa.

I cut the engine and we paddled the boat onto a sandy spot and anchored it down.

"Wow. Haven't been here in awhile"

Craig said.

"You've been here?" I asked surprised.

"Yeah me and Sparky always used to come to parties here. Haven't in a while though"

He laughed at a memory and then continued to help me get the stuff out of the boat.

We walked around on the island till we came to a clearing. Laying the blankets down, we hoped on top and looked up at the stars.

"You party a lot" it wasn't really a question more of a statement.

"Yeah I do. Me and sparky both do. The after parties at competitions get mental" he said sort of smiling sort of sad.

"I bet they do" I said wondering about all the hot girls be probably has hooked up with.
