Once I finished in the shower I let my hair air dry allowing it to form small curls and then applied a small amount of bb cream to take away the redness of my tired skin. I cleaned up my clothes that I had tossed onto the ground and picked out a new outfit for the day. Cropped cargos and a flowery top that showed the little tan that I had.
I walked out of my bunkie feeling much better and quickly scanned the tree line for any signs of Craig. No luck. It was just passed noon maybe he wasn't up yet.
"Hudson!" I heard a familiar voice call to me from a distance away. It was my Grandma. "Hi Gams!" I waved and walked toward her as she sat down in one of the large garden chairs in the backyard. She was sipping a warm mint tea. "Did you take your medication yet, the doctors told you how important it was" I said. "Yes dear, honestly you fuss over me too much. Your worse than the nurse they sent" I rolled my eyes, and took another glance in the direction of Craig's house. Still nothing.
I sat with my Grandmother for the rest of the afternoon. I listened to her as she chatted about the fun time she had had at the block party. She told me that when she danced it reminded her of Grandpa and how it gave her a bittersweet feeling. I knew she missed Grandpa - we all did, but she missed being able to dance with him.
Next she told me that she got to eat some delicious bbq chicken that a young man named Royce had made and that it was the best she had ever tasted. Then she continued on bu asking me questions about my night and if I had had a good time. I never said a thing about Craig and she didn't ask. We talked all afternoon and I ooh'ed and ahhh'ed at exactly the right times and laughed when she would say something funny. One of my favourite things about her was her sense of humour and how well she could use it when storytelling. She could captivate hundreds of people if she wanted too. She had almost gone to University for English but her Father had wanted her to marry a wealthy family friend. It turns out she fell in love with him and did marry him - obviously because thats Grandpa, but she had always longed for a richer education. Thats also why she doesn't want me around too much longer and keeps edging me closer to applying to College. She doesn't want me to regret anything and wanted to make sure I got the best education possible. But I didn't want to go to College or University, I was quite content with just helping my Grandma.
After speaking with my Grandma we went inside so I could cook lunch and we sat with Aggy and Gordo around the big kitchen table. Throughout their conversation I would find my mind wondering. I kept thinking about Craig and when or if I was going to see him again. When the meal was finished I washed all the dishes and let my Grandma stay with Aggy and Gordo who were watching tv. I hooked Buster up to his leash as he wagged his tail excitedly and threw on a jacket so I could take him for a walk.
We started off down the long road and then cut across into the small empty field. We walked for a while and then I unhooked him so he could run around. He frolicked through the grass sniffing and barking as he ran. I heard someone walking towards us, they made the dry grass crunch with their shoes. When I spun around to face the person my stomach dropped. I was face to face with Craig.
