Running

Running away from home was her only choice. Well, it wasn't as if she had any other choice in her actions. I mean, getting a letter from a anonymous sender was creepy enough. Even creepier was that the sender had seemingly threatened to find her. Shivers were sent up her spine just thinking about it.

She quickly packed up her clothes and placed them in a small suitcase she got from another place with a weird name. The brunette tied her hair into a ponytail before gingerly stepping out into the hallway. In the suitcase were just daily necessities. She crept through the hallway to the front door. The brunette winced as she thought her plan over. Not exactly smart. But, a person would have to try.

"Sorry mom." A quiet feminine whisper came from her throat. She carefully taped a note onto the table closest to the door. With that she dashed into the night with a brown jacket, navy jeans and a bright suitcase.

"And so that's why I am here."

An incredulous look was given at the girl's ridiculous explanation. "Wait, so Rebecca, you ran away from home 'cause you think there are some creepy people trying to hunt you down and may possibly be your stalkers for a long time." A nod was given. "Oh my gosh. Were you watching too much television or somethin' crazy like that." A shake of the head. "Then what gave you this idea that some strange people are tryin' to catch you?"

Rebecca quickly pulled out a ziplock bag containing a note in it. "Wait, I have to be gentle. Dun want this to rip." She gingerly pulled out the note and slid it across the table to show it to her friend.

"Let's see. 'Dear Rebecca'- okay they know your name. That could mean this letter is from a classmate. Okay okay I will read it! 'We have been monitoring you for a while and decided that you are the person we are looking for. We know where you live and will be visiting you soon. Till then.' Okay, that was kinda creepy. . ."

"Not 'kinda'! Very!" Rebecca huffed. "Why do you think I came to you Linda?"

"I dunno maybe 'cause my parents ain't home and you think that you can get away from your house in the summer and hang around in the country. Yea, I really don't know." Linda muttered under her breath. She flipped her shoulder length hair. "What do you want to do this summer?"

"You're changing the subject! But yea, what should I do. . ."

Linda winced at her friend's careless attitude. "You did at least tell your parents right?"

"Uh. . .kinda?"

"Oh, please don't tell me you wrote somethin' like, 'Sorry, I am leaving on a short notice but please don't look for me.' That is like super cheesy."

Rebecca lowered her head in shame as Linda groaned. "I am going to call you you idiot." Rebecca mumbled something incoherent but the other girl just ignored her and walked towards the phone.

"They are still sleeping!" Rebecca quickly blurted. "I mean, I ran in the night right? They are definitely still sleeping so uh. . .let me stay for a while before telling! I mean you don't have any plans for the summer right?"

"Right. You better have some spare clothes and your own stuff though. I refuse to share."

Rebecca laughed sheepishly and Linda led her to a spare guest room

"Oh my! Where did Rebecca run off to?!?!" A shriek in the white house woke up the other individuals in the house.

"What is it dear?" A deep voice belonging to a taller male asked when he heard his wife's scream.

"Rebecca has gone missing!"

"Uh.  . . So she is not here?" The blonde standing at the front steps awkwardly stammered. "I-uh- will take my leave then." He quickly turned to leave after the couple ran to call the police. "Wait! I think she may be at another friend's house or something. I don't think it would be that big of a problem." The blonde quickly addressed the parents before they could call the police and cause trouble.

"Oh, and you know because. . ." The lady inquired softly.

"I got a text from another friend that said that they know where she is."

"Oh, thank you."

"She really makes us worry." The male sighed relieved.

The male quickly slipped out the front door and cussed quietly. He was hoping to find the girl here. Oh well, gotta search again.

"Curse you Francis. What did you write?"
