3RD POV

Hydra thought they had her under control. They took the girl right off the street, tortured her, forced her to fight, took away the one thing that connected her to her father, the one thing that made her worthy in the eyes of the public. They tried and tried and tried to break her. For only once she was broken, she could be changed. Just like the others. But she wouldn't break; the physical and mental pain that she was exposed to, it wasn't enough.

So, they disposed of one of the lesser assets. Stark was the key to the Project; her brain map was expansive, she was the daughter of a Stark, and most importantly- she could adapt. She had been neglected from a young age, left behind constantly, she believed she was uncared for. The Agency didn't need to do anything but wait. Wait for the Serum to work. For her to finally give up.

But they didn't account for her failure. Her thoughts.

She materialized figures to hold all of her darkness, to rationalize what was happening. Unlike the other girls, the first attempts at someone like Hades, she didn't give in. She fought, even when any hope she had was long ago abandoned.

But, eventually, it worked. It just didn't go as planned.

Instead of unlocking new parts in her brain, her entire neurological layout . . . shifted. And although the Hydra big-heads thought a traumatic moment would trigger her mutation, it instead triggered something much worse.

Currently, Hades was locked instead a small cell, the same one she had been trapped in when she first arrived. Her hands were bloody, a gash on her forehead from her assault on the wall. She had screamed her throat raw and punched the stone until her hands made a sickly crack. Even now, as she pressed herself to the wall covered in her blood, little laughs escaping between the cries for help, like two beings warring with each other. Clumps of her barely-less-then-peach-fuzz hair lay around the cell, from where she had somehow managed to pull out the short dark strands.

Hydra made a mistake.

It was certain, now more than ever, that Stark hadn't been the right candidate for their Project. Hades could be no more, for even Hydra had no control when her mind changed, her reactions jerky and instinctual. Hydra had meant to create a Weapon, instead, they created a Monster. Someone just as dark and awful as them, but far more unstable.
