"Ughhh." I said as I flopped down on the bed next to My Husband Lay. It was almost 6:00am, and I had just finished my all brighter shift at work. Then in about 4 hours I would have to go to my other job.
Lay and I both worked two jobs in order to pay the bills. We were behind on most of our payments, but especially the house. So we did what we could to get enough money to try and keep it.
"How was work?" Lay asked as he sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes.
"Tiring. Like usual." I said as I stood up and stripped, then putting on sweatpants and a Tshirt.
"I have to go to work in about an hour, and I'm picking up extra hours tonight so I won't be home until late." Lay said as he started to wake up."
"Ok." I whispered in response as I started to drift off to sleep.
I woke up like an hour later when Lay kissed my cheek before he left for work. After he left I went back to sleep for a couple of hours before I had to leave for my other job at a bubble tea shop.
That night when I got home I found a sheet of paper taped to our front door.
It was an eviction notice. I furiously ripped off of the door and ran into the house slamming the door.
I walked over to the counter and set the paper down. I took a deep breath and decided to look through the mail.
-Junk-

-new bill-

I was getting so frustrated and after seeing the fifth or sixth bill in the pile I lost it. I shoved all of the mail off of the counter, crumpled up the eviction notice and chucked it at the wall. I grabbed a glass off of the counter and chucked it on the ground, and then I broke. I slid against the wall down to the ground now in tears. I didn't know what to do. We were digging ourselves deeper and deeper into debt, and my marriage was going to get destroyed because of it.
Then I heard the front door open. And Lay walked in.
"Ohmygosh, ______! What the hell happened." He said as he rushed over to me and knelt down in front of me.
"Lay, we can't do this anymore. We can't pay the bills, and everything is going to have been a waste. All those extra jobs and hours of work will have been for nothing because everything is going to be gone!" I Said.
"What...what do you mean?" Lay asked.
"We got an eviction notice." I said gasping between breaths. "Now our family is ruined. We'll never have a perfect life. How can you have a family without a home?!" I rambled on.
Lay grabbed my hands in his and looked into my eyes. "______, houses are nice but they aren't a home. You are my home. Where ever you are I belong with you. My home is with you, not in a building."
After that He kissed me and the two of us just sat there on the floor hand in hand. Five minutes later our power was turned off, and we sat on the couch together surrounded by freshly lit candles.
