The raven haired beauty watched the sunset with an awed expression as he sat on the picnic blanket the redhead had laid out for them on the grass.
"I've always loved sunsets." He finally said, causing the redhead to look up from his work on setting up the projector.
"Yeah, they're pretty, aren't they?" Archie mused, cocking his head to the side as if it would help him get a better look at Mother Natures movie.
"It's not just that. Sunsets remind me that something beautiful can come out of any ending." Jughead explained further, snapping his gaze onto his date.
"Alright, that was deep."
"Sorry." Jughead blushed and shook his head. "How's the projector coming along?"
"Um... almost got it... there!" Archie smiled in satisfaction as the projector finally turned on and displayed the opening credits of a movie onto the white sheet in front of them.
"Took you long enough." Jughead teased, sticking his tongue out as Archie pouted.
"This thing is ancient, it wasn't my fault." He tried to defend himself, but Jughead just laughed and patted the picnic blanket, gesturing for him to join him.
"What movie are we watching tonight?"
"It's a surprise."
"Ugh, you're full of surprises, aren't you?"
"Get used to it, babe." Archie smirked.
"Babe?" Jughead raised an eyebrow.
"Uh huh!"
"Well, its better than daddy." Jughead mumbled under his breath, causing Archie to blush. "It's funny how you can go from badass to bunny in .5 seconds."
"It's funny how you can go from shy to sex king in .01 milliseconds." Archie shot back.
"Oh shut up and come here." Jughead rolled his eyes before opening his arms wide enough for his date to crawl into, which he did.
Archie loved being in Jughead's arms. He wasn't sure why though, it could've been a number of things. It could have been the way he smelled, like cinnamon and ink, a strange combination that was intoxicating to the ginger. It could've even been how surprisingly strong his arms were, how safe and warm they made him feel.
"How did you find this place anyways?"
"This is the town I come to during the summers." Archie admitted.
"Ahhh is this where you have your midnight rendezvous?" Jughead asked shyly, although trying to play it off as a joke.
"No. I've actually never brought anyone else up here before. I found it one day when I was driving into the middle of nowhere."
"Well, its beautiful."
"Not as beautiful as you." Archie practically purred into his chest, making him blush.
"That was so cheesy I can't believe you said that." Jughead laughed.
"I'm the epitome of cheesy. C'mon let's start the movie."
The rest of the night was magical. It may have started off rocky, but it ended up beautifully. The two cuddled up tightly and whispered to themselves, barely paying attention to the movie Archie bought and focusing, rather, on the stars above them. The couple themselves were astral, bright and serene in the midst of the unknown.
It wasn't until Jughead's phone rang that they realized they stayed out too late, the soft glow of his phone snapping them back to the reality they had left behind for a few hours.
