It's time. And Maze isn't back yet. I'm on the verge of a mental breakdown.
"It'll be okay, darling," Lucifer says, putting an arm around me. But I'm freaking out too much.
"What if he kills her? What if—"
"Bitch shut up," Demetria snaps, uncrossing her legs and standing up. "Maze is going to get her. You can't keep worrying about something you can't do shit about."
"Don't call her—" Lucifer starts, but I cut in before he can finish. I pull away from him and move closer to her.
"Bitch you shut up. This isn't your sister on the line," I tell her, and she narrows her eyes at me.
"Even if it were, I wouldn't be whining like a fucking—"
"You say one more word, and I'll make you regret it," I hiss, feeling my blood boil. I'm past the point of patience.
"Oh I'd like to see you try," she says smugly, crossing her arms.
"Oh? You'd like that, wouldn't you?"
"Darling—" Lucifer says, but I raise a hand, making him fall silent.
"I'm ready to fucking kill someone, okay? Don't fucking test me," I snap, and she raises an eyebrow.
"Good for you to finally try to fight your own battles," she responds, and I narrow my eyes.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I challenge, and she rolls her eyes.
"You've let everyone walk all over you. Fuck, you didn't even know who he was before you fucked him," she says, gesturing to Lucifer.
I bristle. "You don't know what I've been through."
"Oh? I can imagine. You let anyone stick their dick in you, and—"
She doesn't finish because I move, surprising even myself. I swing at her, and she ducks. Her fist comes flying toward me, but I dodge her blow, grabbing her fist with my hand. I feel a rush that I've never felt before.
Instinctively, I grab her other fist that nearly slams into my abdomen. She yanks her fists out of mine and moves to sweep my legs out from under me. I can see her move before it happens. I step back before swinging at her. She stops the blow with her arm, and she tries to punch me again. I dodge and spin, doing a roundhouse kick. Apparently I can do that.
She grabs my ankle before twisting it. But I know she's going to do that, so I spin with it, falling onto my back with a thud. I grunt, but I push myself back onto my feet before trying to sweep her feet out from under her. She shrieks as I actually catch her. She crashes to the ground, and before she can get up, I move over her, pinning her hands down. She snarls at me, her eyes filling with fire. But then, she suddenly starts laughing.
I feel confused. The rush starts to fade. "What?" I ask, and she raises her perfectly sculpted eyebrows.
"Can you let me up?" she asks, and I move off her before extending my hand to her. I pull her up, and she brushes herself off. "You can handle yourself. Just remember it's life or death," she says.
"Did you...you did that on purpose didn't you?" I ask, and she purses her lips. She tries not to grin.
"Maybe."
"That was...that was hot," Lucifer says, and I remember that he's here. I look to him, and his eyes are darkened.
"Oh god, not here," Demetria says as I go over to him.
"Oh shut up, sister," Lucifer says before pulling me into his arms and pressing his lips to mine. "I knew your powers were still in you."
"Why is it coming back now?" I whisper against his lips.
