I wake up and don't think a second thought as I see myself in my familiar bed. But then, I see someone in the corner. Oh no. No. This isn't happening. I thought I was with Lucifer. What's happening.
"Lucifer?" I call, but I know it's not him.
"Nope, little girl. Daddy was just feeling a little...hungry," he says, stepping forward. It's him. It's my boss.
"I don't have to do this anymore," I say, getting to my feet.
"That's where you're wrong. Once a whore, always a whore," he replies, starting to take off his clothes. I feel nauseous.
"Get away from me." Suddenly, he's on top of me. I scream. I try to fight him off. I can't breathe.
"Darling darling wake up." I hear a different voice.
"Lucifer," I gasp as I lurch awake. I sit up abruptly. I touch my arms. My face. It wasn't real. I look around desperately and see Lucifer's concerned face.
"You're alright, love," he says. "It was just a dream."
"A dream," I repeat, touching my face again. My cheeks are wet with tears.
"Come here," he says, opening his arms. I move closer before putting my leg over him and wrapping my arms around him. I'm clinging to him like a koala.
"It felt so real," I whisper.
He puts a hand on my head before lying back onto the bed. He pulls the covers over us and pulls me into his body.
"What happened?" he asks softly, and I close my eyes.
"My old boss. He used to...use the girls whenever he felt like it."
"I'm sorry," he says.
"It's fine. It's not your fault."
"No. I should have fought for you. I should have protected you."
"You didn't know," I whisper.
"I could have stopped it," he says, sounding anguished.
I lift my head and look at him. "How?"
"I...I could have found you sooner," he says, but the way he says it makes me think that he's hiding something. But I don't say anything.
"It's okay," I finally respond, moving my head to his shoulder. I'm wrapped around him, clinging to him like he's the only thing keeping me on this Earth. "You saved me from there," I say after a moment.
He doesn't respond, and when I open my mouth to say something more, he says, "Are you happy right now?"
"Right this second or the past few days?" I ask, and he chuckles lightly.
"In general," he says, and I let out a breath.
"Yeah. I'm happy. Even with that shit that happened with my mom. Even with that shit that happened at Lux. I'm happy," I tell him.
"That's all I want. I just want you to be happy," he says softly.
"Why do you care about me so much?" I ask, and he falls silent again.
"You're special," he finally says.
"That's what Maze told me," I chuckle.
"What else did she tell you?"
"Just a little about your...sex drive," I respond, trying not to laugh. I feel my cheeks flush, and I'm glad he can't see.
"Oh. Well."
We lie in silence for a while, and I just listen to his steady breathing.
"Can you just...talk?"
"Hmm?"
"I like listening to your voice," I respond, and he chuckles lightly.
"What do you want to hear?"
"Tell me a story."
So he does. He tells me about the time Maze had gotten into a fight with a bar patron. Sounds like her.
His voice calms me. I feel safe. Something about him makes me feel secure.
He finishes the story, and after a moment, he asks, "Are you feeling better now?"
"Yeah."
"He can't hurt you anymore," he murmurs. I feel him kiss the top of my head. He whispers something, almost inaudibly. But I can barely make out the sound of the words: "I missed you."
Did he miss me being awake? Yeah. I guess that's it.
A/N
I love him bye
