As expected, Maze had found her. She was safe. As was my mother. Although, I don't know if she's actually okay seeing how she's tied up in the house.

"What the fuck did you do?" I ask, trying to see if she'd hurt my mother.

"I just restrained her. Chill," Maze responds. My sister is sitting on the couch, and her face lights up when she sees me.

"Lily, is that really you?" she asks, standing up and coming over to me.

"Yes. It's me. I'm sorry I didn't visit," I say softly, pulling her into a hug. She's not my real sister, but we became really close during our time together. She was the person I missed the most while I was away.

"Who's that?" she whispers, and I know who she's talking about.

"Lucifer," I reply, and she pulls away slightly.

"You're dating the Devil?"

"Maybe," I reply, making her laugh.

"I'm standing right here," Demetria whines. "Introduce me to the human," she says, and I roll my eyes.

"This is my sister, April. April, this is Demetria, Lucifer's...sister?" I say uncertainly, wondering about the family ties there.

"You remind me of my pet," Demetria comments, and I make a face.

"That's incredibly offensive," I say, but she shrugs.

"It's a compliment."

"Your idea of compliments are a little warped," Maze comments, and I look to her.

My mother is tied up in a chair, and she has a cloth in her mouth to keep her quiet. She looks pissed, to say the least.

"Mother," I say when she meets my eyes. She looks at me with hatred that I've never seen in a human. Maybe she's not. I glance to Lucifer. "Do you think she's not human?" I whisper, and he shrugs.

"She would have broken out of her—"

That's when I hear a roar. Everyone's heads swivel toward my mother...only she's not human. Clearly. The memories flood back. The hatred. The pain. My wings. She was in the red room. She tried to take my Devil away from me. And she's still doing it.

"Not this time, Mother," I spit, charging at the demon before me. She roars, and out of the corner of my eye, I see Maze grab my sister and run. Good. She's the only vulnerable one in the room.

I feel a rush through my body. My wings unfurl for the first time since I've been here. My clothes tear as I feel a sharp pain in my head. My eyes feel hot—they're probably blazing with the fire I see in Lucifer's eyes.

I let out an inhuman roar, shaking the house. The demon charges, and I do, too. We crash into one another, and we fall to the ground. I twist her arm as she tries to punch me, and I feel her scratch my shoulder. I let out a cry of pain, and I see a blur of dark smoke. The demon roars as Demetria strikes her between the eyes. The demon grows larger, and I feel Lucifer beside me, moving with inhuman speed. Even with the three of us, the demon still fights. It slams Demetria with a huge claw, and she goes flying. She lets out a scream of rage, black smoke surrounding her entire body.

The demon swings for Lucifer, but he ducks, and I take the opportunity to leap on top of her. I'm not sure what I'm doing. Instinct takes over. I wrap my arms around her neck, tightening my hold. She tries to roar, but I'm cutting off her air. She tips back, slamming me into the wall. A sharp pain runs through me, but I don't let go.

I hear someone growl—it sounds female, but I don't know if it's Maze or Demetria. The demon roars, and I see Maze slashing her with her demon knives. With her smoke, Demetria blinds the demon, and unfortunately, me as well. I can't see—I just tighten my hold on the sputtering demon. I hear someone cry out as the demon falls back onto her feet. It's distinctly male. I feel myself falter, a sudden panic rushing through me. And that's when the demon throws me off her. I crash into the wall behind me, and I hear a ringing in my ears.
