Sigh...
You rolled over onto your side. It was nearly midnight, and you just couldn't seem to sleep. No matter how hard you tried, your eyes were unwilling to close.
You missed your boyfriend, Scotty. He was away on tour and he asked if you wanted to come along, but you had school. He's been gone for months and ever since then you just haven't been yourself. Most nights you would cry yourself to sleep and during the day you shut yourself off from the world. The two of you have never been apart from each other, and you were taking the separation hard.
He was supposed to be back in a few weeks, but you didn't know how much longer you could go for. So you called him up, regardless of the time.
"Hello?" He answered, his voice thick with sleep.
"I'm sorry...I just...I miss you and I can't sleep. I just need to talk to you..." Tears streamed down your face.
You heard shuffling through the phone and he spoke, much clearer this time. "I know baby. I miss you too. Don't cry though, I'll be home soon. Be strong for me, love." He soothed.
"I'm trying, it's just...so hard. We've never been apart. I just need you here with me."
"I know. I wish I was there too. Only a few more weeks and then I'll be home. We can talk every night until I get home, if it'll help you. I hate hearing you sound so upset, it breaks my heart."
"I know, I'm sorry..."
"Don't be sorry. Now, lay your head down on your pillow and close your eyes. I'll sing to you."
You did as he told you to do and he began singing your favorite song, Amazed by Lonestar. Before you knew it you had drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
