Chapter 1

--------MACKENZIES POV---------

I walked down into the kitchen. My brother was in tears, so I did what I always did, comforted him. "Shhh. Everything will be ok." I said rocking back in forth with him in my arms. Hunter is my little brother. He's 11 years old, there's not that much of an age difference.

"What's wrong?" I asked him looking down at him. He looked up at me and pointed to a note on the counter. It read:

Dear Hunter and Kenzie,

I'm sorry that this is happening to you guys. We have no other choice but to do this. You are going to be living with your aunt in Indiana. We have decided it would be best for you because we are always out and never home. We will not be here when you leave, but your cousin Aj will drive you to the airport in 2 days. There is $700 dollars each for you to spend however. Be wise. We love you kids and are so sorry to do this.

I looked at hunter. He started crying even more. "Don't cry hunter." I said letting go of him. He had his head down. I got onto my knees and looked at him bringing his chin up with my hand. "We will be together and I will not let anything separate us." I smiled and we hugged each other squeezing each other tight.

"Now let's go start to pack so we can enjoy our last day here!" I said smiling at him. He smiled at me and ran up into his room grabbing his suitcase. I walked into my room and reached for my phone. I text my best friend, her name is Mara.

To 💛💕Mara bear💕💛: hey Mara. I don't know how you're going to take this, but I'm moving to Indiana in two days 😔

She didn't take long to reply

From 💛💕Mara bear💕💛: NOO you can't. We have so many memories.

To 💛💕Mara bear💕💛: I know, but it's for the best. I'll never forget you and we will keep in touch everyday.

Right after I sent that text Mara facetimed me. I quickly answer and looked at her. "Hey." I said smiling grabbing my suitcase. "Are you really leaving?" she asked me with a sad face. "Yeah, but I have no choice. Like I said. We will keep in touch no matter what!" she smiled and saw my suitcase. "I love that suitcase." She said giggling. I look up and smiled. "Maybe because you bought it." I said smiling.

"Kenzie! Kenzie!" Hunter yelled running into my room. "Hold on." I said to Mara turning around and looking at him. "What's wrong?" I asked smiling. "Mommy and daddy bought me a phone! Look! Look! It's the same as yours!" I got up and hugged him. "Just be careful with it." I said still smiling. "I will! I promise!" He said. I looked at my phone and noticed Mara was getting back from somewhere. She saw Hunter with a phone and her mouth dropped.

I laughed and Hunter left my room. "He's got a better phone than me!" Mara said raising her android. I giggled. "I think my parents bought it mainly so he could keep in touch." I said looking back at my suitcase. It was empty, so I got to work.

Mara helped me decide what to take and what not to. After many 'no' nods and 'yes' nods, I finished packing. Again, Hunter walked back into my room and held up his phone. "Put you're number in!" He said handing me his phone. "Hold on Mara." I said as I went to contacts and let him do the same. I put in my number and put myself as '🐥Kenzie😜.'

About 12:30 Mara had to go because she had school. Hunter and I weren't going to school so it didn't matter.

I laid on my bed and looked at the ceiling. A tear rolled down my cheeks but I wiped it away. I didn't want to move, but it was a way for me to start fresh. I plugged in my phone and shut off my lamp. Then, I was out like a light.
