Chapter 9

• Mackenzie's POV •

"Hi Hayes." I said embarrassed because my eyes were still red from crying. "Hey. Umm.. Are you ok?" He asked walking into the house. "Better than ever." I said shrugging. "Nash?" He whispered in my ear. "And Cam." I whispered back into his. He nodded his head. "Boy, he better be ready for a whipping." He said putting his suitcase down. "Hayes, you have to sleep in the room next to Kenzie's. Also, next to your room is her-" Cameron started to say but then we heard screaming. "Die die die die!" I started laughing. "-her brother, Hunter's room. He's 11 but turning 12." Nash said nodding.

"I'll be back." I said walking out the front door to go to the park. When I got to the park, nobody was there. I sat on the swings and thought about today. Everyone must think I'm a loser. "Hey." A voice said behind me. I turned around and saw this boy with bright blue eyes and dark brown hair. "I'm Jack." The boy said smiling. "Mackenzie." I said smiling back. "Hey, what school do you go to?" Jack asked me. "Princeton high." I said and shrugged.

After talking for 20 minutes, Jack asked for my number. "So we can.. You know hang out." He said smiling. I smiled back at him and handed my phone to him so he could put his number in. My phone beeped and Jack looked kinda sad. "You got a text." He said and handed my phone back to me and I checked it.

Oh my gosh. This better not be. "Taylor." I mumbled. "Is he your ex?" He asked. I shook my head. "No, we are just friends." I said kinda sad. "You like him don't you?" He asked climbing up the slide. "Yeah.. But I mean. He doesn't like me like that. I know that because he's the schools biggest player.. And just tries to get in girl's pants." I said giggling at the last line. Jack started chuckling. "Sounds like a real charmer."

"Yeah.. He is look wise. I've never actually gotten close to him as in getting to know him." I said shrugging. He nodded and sat on the slide. "Has he ever shown interest in you?" Jack asked. I never really though about it. "I mean.. Maybe? I don't know. It's the player part about him that's hard to figure out if he does or not." I said standing up and walking over to the slide. I climbed up and sat next to Jack and side hugged him laying my head on his shoulder.

• Taylor's POV • {finally 🙌}

I drove my corvette to the store with Dillon to get some things. "Ayye Taylor! When we went by the park, I think I saw Kenzie with some guy hugging." Dillon said putting carrots into the cart. I felt.. Jealous. But why? I can't like her can I? "Oh." Was all I said. "I think someone likes Kenzieeee." Dillon said grabbing bread. "Do not." I said blushing a little. "You're blushing!" He yelled laughing. I looked up and chuckled then finished shopping.

• Mackenzie's POV •

"I can't believe you would push your little brother into the lake, especially when he can't swim." I said laughing. I was having a good time with Jack and I was glad I met him. "Yeah well.. He deserved it." He said smiling at me. My eyes flickered at his lips then back to his eyes. Soon enough, we were both leaning in. I felt his lips on mine and they started to move in sync.

• Taylor's POV •

I hopped out of the car and walked right across the street. There she was.. Kissing a boy. My heart felt like it split in half. I turned back around and walked into the house followed by Dillon. "Yo Taylor what's-" he started to ask then looked over at the park. "Yikes." I heard him whisper. After all that.. I changed as best as I could for her, but now she's kissing another boy. Point loss for Taylor.

• Mackenzie's POV •

It felt wrong kissing Jack but right. My brain said yes, but my heart said no. I pulled away and smiled and so did he. Then I thought for a minute... Taylor. He's the one I liked. The one I lo- no no. I don't love him.. I don't think. But I do know I have a crush on him. "Well.. I have to go because I need to be home for dinner." Jack said standing up and walking down the slide. "Bye! I'll text you." I said smiling and watched him walk down the street. I saw Dillon across the street and motioned him over. Conversation time.. Again.
