Chapter six

"Odd breakfast"

VEGA's P.O.V

At breakfast strangely everyone was quiet. Although found it relaxing that father wasn't lecturing us about how we should get along with each other even though we already did or how I wasn't supposed to sneak out so much and he's discuss my next punishment, I still couldn't get used to the unusual silence that didn't reign breakfast almost never.

And as if the silence wasn't enough everyone kept glancing at me, Isabelle smiled every time our eyes locked and at some points so did my father. I gulped my food rolling my tongue in my mouth numerous times as I took the situation as awkward and that prevented me from eating as much as I should've. I decided to get up after only fifteen minutes after had sat down. "Yeah I'll um. I'm done." I stutter rushing to get out of the uncomfortable situation as I fasten my pace to get out to the garden.

I inhale deeply taking in the sweet smell of fresh red roses surrounding me. A small smile formed on my face as I started thinking of my mother. The roses and memories of planting carrots were the only things she'd left me; other than millions of questions that remained unanswered.

"Her majesty is calling you princess." One of her assistants informed me. So I assumed, we had so many people running round the castle I couldn't keep track of everyone.

"My stepmother?"

"Yes your highness." She says clearly out of breath. Assuming it was urgent or something I walked with the same fast face I came out with.

"Come my dear." She invites me back in the dining hall. Did I do something wrong?

Something? I did a shit ton of stuff wrong. "Y-Yes stepmother?" Is what I manage to stutter before I gulp.

"Is there something you want to tell me dear?" She asks smiling.

"No there is nothing."

She furrows her eyebrows. "You're sure?"

"Certain, stepmother." I assure her with a smile.

"So you weren't planning on telling us about him then I assume dear?" She asks and my eyes widen at her statement. I was going to drain the blood of my beloved stepsister.

"I uh beg your pardon?" I try to sound confused but I could guess fear was visible on my face.

"Oh don't be shy dear. We both know you're not the shy kind." She laughs. I don't get it; I didn't get it at all. Why the fuck was she so happy? "So who is he? When are you planning on introducing us?"

I let go of a breath I had no actual idea I was keeping as I get the idea she didn't know he was a blood.

"Vega?" She reminds me of my loss of words. "S-Soon, I hope." I tell her.

"Well that's good dear." That smile never left her face, I could see she was happy. Oh devil if she only knew. "I hope soon is soon enough, your father is very happy about this dear. The kingdom is most certainly in need of a new king and you have come of age too."

"I'm not sure I-"

"Nonsense, I'm sure he'll be good enough to take over the kingdom." She says cutting me off from whatever bullshit I was about to spill. "Now I'll get going, you can leave too." She says letting me talk no more.

"Bye?" I say as she leaves.

"I'm so bloody hungry!" I held my growling stomach and allowed myself to fall on Aura's bed. "I barely ate at breakfast."

"Why?" She asks.

"My parents kept giving me weird glances, and now my stepmother thinks my mate is some upper class vampire who can take over the kingdom."

"I still don't understand; why is you sad?" She runs a hair brush through her hair.

"Because me is hungry!" I frown.

"Do you wanna hunt down a human?" Aura says smiling.

"Why did you just ask me if I wanted to find Santa?" I raise my head like a fool talking in an ironic way.

"Okay excuse me now?" She laughs.

Finding humans in the forest or anywhere really was becoming rarer each time I tried hunting one down. You were lucky even if you found a rabbit or a deer let alone a human.

"Shh!" Aura tells me.

"I'm even hungrier than before now. Seriously why couldn't you just give me some food?" I say again.

"Because this is way more fun, and I wanted to try some charms so shush!"

"Okay "this is more fun" is my line." I whisper to her.

Me and Aura had been walking through the forest for thirty minutes or so and all I'd seen were some yellow birds way too high up. It was aftr almost an hour of waiting that we stumbled across a young looking boy on a horse. By his clothes I could tell he was somewhat of royalty or an upper class member at least.

Aura turned her head around and started whispering to me. " Okay you bite him and when you're done call me I'll give him this so you don't have to kill him." She pulled out a small bottle of orange liquid from the front pocket of her dress.

I nod at her orders and slowly come out from our hiding place.

"Help me please!" I yelled as I fell down on the grass. "T-they're going to kill me!" I pretended to cry. He came off his horse and ran toward me in a hurry. "Miss is you okay?" He says in a manly and concerned voice. "Miss?" He repeats several times before trying to pick me sliding his hands under my "unconscious" body. He hears me mumble as he picks me up and asks one more time if I were okay. As soon as he does I opened my eyes trying to bite his neck but out of fear and shock he drops me on the ground.

My head meets a hard object and then everything goes pitch black.
