Chapter eleven
"I just hate you"
VEGA's P.O.V
Not willingly I couldn't help but notice that Prince Bentley's garden wasn't as big as ours. Sure it had a variety of flowers compared to ours which only had roses and big somewhat neat bushes.
The "crazy asylum-worthy girl" image had already been put on me so why shouldn't I have helped it by sitting with crossed on the muddy ground? Oddly enough I loved the pleasant smell of prince Bentley's garden. I was nice to smell something other than roses all day.
"You seem to like the garden more than the whole castle." I hear Bentley's thoughts snap me out of my thoughts. I nod at his obvious statement. "Well, it reminds me of home." I say in a soft voice.
He looks down at me with a pitiful look, how amiable. "You know, I'm not going to force you to tell me anything. When I found you, you looked horrified. You had this expression that screamed "help me" on your face and when I tried picking you up you flinched and tried moving and I dropped you." He continues in a desperate voice bending down to meet my eyes in the same level; I can't help admire his innocence and how he saw the situation. "I'm not going to make you tell me what happened to you, or who scared you that bad but it'd really help if I knew; so I know what to and not say or do. Please?"
Guilt started building inside me as I couldn't straight up tell the innocent brunet boy in front of "I was hungry I was most likely going to kill you". Not sure of what I was going to say I open my mouth but am interrupted without even being able to thank him by a guard running toward the prince who was clearly out of breath.
He whispers something the prince's ear as he gets up from his kneeled position without dusting of the dirt on his knees. After a few seconds of the boys having a short conversation that I didn't even bother make out the prince turns his head on me again with that same sympathetic smile. "I have to take care of an old friend who's come to visit. I'll be back in a second. Stay here okay?" I nod at his statement even though I wasn't planning on staying in the same place for long.
After about fifteen minutes of counting flowers and petals I'd gotten up and I was pacing around the garden again.
Five more minutes had passed.
I began growing impatient for Bentley to come back so I could go back with him instead of not obeying the part when he told me to "stay here".
I looked at the roses with drunken eyes before finally deciding I should get back inside. A few drops of sweat had helped their way on my forehead from the afternoon sun. It was so peaceful this way.
Maybe I could stay here, Veronica would take the throne instead of me and become a great ruler, I'd leave Aaron alone; this way he could find a much appropriate mate and Aura? She'll be alright. I've known her since forever, and for all the time I've known her she's been on her own. Maybe we can all be happier if I stay here; playing cupid for Amelia and Bentley isn't such a bad idea now is it?
Going back home was an option that I didn't want to consider.
"You frickin brat!" I hear a feminine voice behind me; and just like how every other disaster in my life happens, for the simple reason that I wanted to satisfy my curiosity I turned around to see the face who accompanied the familiar voice.
The simple question of 'how'd you find me' wanted to fly out of my mouth but it only made it halfway as she wrapped her arms around me. "Can't.Breathe." I manage to partially stutter my words out right before Aura is about to let go of me.
"Damn you! You're lucky to be alive and even luckier that I'm not stabbing you right this second."
"Trust me I know." I joke and we both burst into laughter, but mine soon dies out when I see the prince of Bloods not far behind her talking to Bentley. He looks at us and his eyes widen in shock when his eyes meet mine. All I managed to do was take one or two steps backwards as he took multiple ones in a hurry toward us. His face lit up in recognition the closer he got. "Blondie?" I heard him say. "Blondie!" from what I saw he was going to hug me as soon as he got close enough if Aura hadn't stopped the guy. She came in between us stopping him and then walking to the side. "Don't touch her!" What in hell was he doing here?
"Why not?" His face expression indicated his confusion.
"She's Vega, princess of lights." Aura explains. Aaron's jaw slightly opens in shock and disbelief. "B-but she's my mate, how can she be a fucking light!?!" His eyes turn angry. "Y-you're a light?"
"I'm everything you see, and everything you don't." I reply to his question, his last bit of hope vanishes and soon all that's left on his face is pure anger.
"You know what?" He raises his finger and waves it in my direction. "A light could never be my mate, I hate lights and I hate you!" I felt Aura's hands wipe tears from my cheeks that I didn't even know were falling. "I don't give a fuck about you!"
"Get over your fucking self you jerkass!" Aura yells back at him. "Come on V, let's go. You know I hate trolls." My best friend starts pulling me by the arms while shooting daggers to the prince, for a moment I felt safe, protected, by her. But then it bites me back; reminding that my own mate hated my guts.
"Wait," I stop Aura's dragging for a minute once we were a few feet away from Aaron. "Maybe, I should stay here. You kn-"
"How hard did you hit your damn head!?" Aura puts both of her hands on my shoulders shaking me with her every word. "You are coming with me sister even if I have to use a shrink potion on you and transport you in a bottle!" I chuckle sadly at her.
Maybe I can back here someday, and I can be happy here.
Alone.
Without Aaron, my father or anyone else.
That is if don't have to wipe out Bentley's memory so I can leave.
