Chapter twelve - rewrite

"Too much sugar in her tea"

VEGA's P.O.V

Expectedly I and Aura followed Aaron's every step until we arrived at the castle.

In a shushed tone, almost whisper like, Aura had to tell me that my parents, well more specifically my father had offered his crown to the bloods if he managed to find me. "What?!" I whisper yell. "Why didn't you stop him you freaks?"

"I didn't think he'd actually be able to do it." She responds apologetically.

I furrow my eyebrows in worry. "He's going to kill us!" I whisper. "Maybe I should go back."

"No! That's not an option."

"It is, if I stay there that means he failed, and dad won't have to give up his crown and neither one of you die-"

"If you even think about going anywhere I'll kill them all!" He growls before swinging the castle doors open. My eyes widen in shock when I see my father and the king of bloods exchanging death glares and even more when Veronica squeezes my body in her arms unexpectedly. My flat and shocked expression countinuesly follows Aaron's figure as he walks up to his father. He accepts the whispers Aaron gives him with a wide satisfied smile on his face and then asks for Ver and Isabelle's lecturing chatter to stop.

"And now," He starts speaking with Aaron close behind him. Disappointment had never dared to abandon his face ever since we came back. "Just like you previously promised that you would without doubt give whatever our hearts desired if we helped," He narrows his eyes with a smile at me then at everyone else. "You shall now-"

"Leave." Aaron spats angrily stepping in front of his father and using his finger to point at the enormous gates behind us.

"Son?" The king says in a quizzical manner.

" Since I am the one that found the princess of lights, I am more than sure I have the right to make the request."

"You want to let the light whore live? We have to vanquish them!" Aaron seems disgusted by the words his father uses to describe me.

"I would much rather have them live with the shame they asked for help!"

"You are not in any position to give me orders!" Anger washes over both of their faces.

Aaron chuckles in anger and then raises his voice. "I am the one who found her! So I decide what happens to her, aand her people.

"Son -"

"And right now I want her to live," The slight awkwardness I felt from not being able to interfere disappears. Me? He wanted me to live? " And her people." He adds." In a sighty lower tone.

The king sighs in defeat. "Very well then." Said those words and King William furiously walks out glancing over each one of us as he does. "One day Connor, one day!" He says.

"T-thank you Aaron-" My father struggles to get his words out but Aaron seems to not pity that at all, instead his eyes shoot up at him.

"I didn't do this for you, bastard!" He says angrily and then looks at me coming a little closer. "I'm going to prove to you, that I don't want or need you. Got that?" I nodded a little too quickly in a sad way. "Go." He adds. "I said get the fuck out!"

I was the last one at the door. With one of my hands on the door frame I take a last look at him. He shoots me death glares before turning his back on me and turning away. I do the same.

I knew from the start that I'd have a difficult time telling my family about my mate. But my father's mouth never shut closed as he kept lecturing me and when it did Veronica's would open and she'd do the same. Isabelle only nodded and mouthed "It's alright dear." at me after I shot her pleading looks.

"You've been drinking blood from humans all this time and never even bothered to tell me?" Veronica asks; arms crossed over her chest with an annoyed face.

"Seems like it," I sigh.

"Seems like it?!" She yells. My ears had become so used to the high tones and yelling that the only odd sounds would be soft voices and whispers. "Because of you we could've had to give up on everything we got and for devil's sake you could've had us all in our coffins, for good this time."

"But you're not, and unfortunately I'm still here too." I shrug.

"You have to quit your crazy obsession-"

"Excuse you darling but as far as I know that's how vampires are supposed to live," I cut her sentence in half not allowing the lectures to go on. "Not by biting cows and chickens thank you very much!"

Somehow I had managed to go into my room, which had basically become Ver's too. She would come after me everywhere I went. Veronica sighs lowering her head. I manage to mumble an apology before he leaves me to deal with my thoughts on my own.

The fact that me and Aaron could never be together didn't necessarily kill me; more like it annoyed the devil out of that part of me that was always so used to getting what she wants. Everyhting had become so bloody complicated just because of me.

Or maybe it was not because of me.

Maybe all I had to do to solve all this was to prove that my father didn't kill the blood Queen, or that any light did that for that matter. Aaron hated me for that reason and I couldn't stand it. Maybe when I prove him wrong he won't have a reason to hate me, and then he won't at all.

I mean one cannot simply hate you because you put too much or too little sugar in your tea can they?
