Chapter three
"Masquerade Ball"
For some reason lights had no problem sneaking around during day, nor night. We had no fear of garlic, or other stupid vegetables people with moron minds put on their doors to keep us away. Elders got used to such things and eventually became immune to them I suppose.
I often wondered what they murdered her with...
I only had vague memories of my mother; an image of a light blonde haired woman and apple red lips appears in my head every time I think of her. I remember this one time; we were planting carrots in the dark in complete secrecy from my father because he hated them. She told me to stay quiet, yet she was the one who kept giggling. And then everything goes black, and I either wake up or think about something else. It kills me that I can't remember anything more.
I teleported near their territory, maybe a little too close seeing I ended up behind a tree a few feet away from the gates of the castle.
If either Isabelle or my father were to find out I was doing this they wouldn't even think twice before draining the blood out of me.
I walked forward to see people, mostly girls, crowded around a poor guard that seemed so full of all the mindless chatter the girls were providing him with.
"I was actually invited you see his majesty an-"
"For the millionth time tonight sweetheart, everyone that received an invintation was invited!" The same guard cuts of in anger the black haired girl in front of him, she gives up and in disappointment walks away grabbing a handful of her lilac silk dress and brushing past me. Seeing that I probably wasn't going to get in either, I shamelessly borrowed an invintation from a woman's hand pulling it as I walked toward the guard before she could notice.
"Finally, and invited guest!" The guard frowns and then smiles delighted at me when I give him the piece of paper.
"I can't imagine how annoying it must be sir." I smile back to him. "Oh it is, bloody hell I had to make a red head cry!" He laughs and I smile again awkwardly walking away into the castle not wanting to talk with him for too long.
The object was huge. Thirteen narrow, round towers are both a defensive and deco aspect of this elegant castle and they all seemed to be connected by reinforced, vast walls made of dark brown stone. It almost seemed black but I didn't spend much time studying the walls as I gazed the windows. They, much like the rest of the castle were grand, and scattered generously around the walls in fairly symmetrical patters along with holes of various sizes for archers and artillery. Not much to my surprise walking down the carpeted hall I notice paintings of probably ancestors and previous kings, queens and their children.
Two girls run past me giggling and holding each other's arms. I silently judge their immature behaviors and then quickly brush it off, knowing it didn't exactly matter what I thought or said here.

The ballroom had a red tint to it from colored lights at the cornered, but it was still pretty well lit from the massive chandelier hanging in the middle of the ceiling. I entered the room with the intention of blending in and not drawing even the slightest of attention to me; I told the herald I was no one important and so he didn't insist on my name. The fact that most of the females were wearing a some shade of red dress or a black one and I wasn't was not exactly helping me in my "try not to get caught, try to blend in" plan. Nothing was for that matter.
Other than the crystal chandelier when I walked in I noticed two open glass doors that led to connected balconies. I could see the moon from where I was, just across from them; the doors.
