Nona's POV
"C'mon. Give it a break." Laura grabbed the phone from my hands.
"Give it back, Laura. He might call anytime soon." I tried to get it but she's giving me a hard time.
"You keep saying that for the past five days but he never did call." she desperately sighed.
"He's busy on tour." I defended.
"Yeah, everybody knows that." she said whilst rolling her eyes. "But lets face the reality, Nona. Did he ever tried to communicate for the past days?"
I remained taciturn because I know where she's going with this. And every word she'll be saying is an inevitable truth which would pierce the senses in me. She's always see the right side which is the truth. I'm here pretending to incapable to see it because sometimes, I'm indenial and I won't deny it this time. Now, I don't know if I'm making a sense here. I'm talking to myself again while Laura is waiting for an answer from me.
"I thought so." she said when I didn't dare to speak to her. "Nona, look at you. It looks like you haven't shower."
"Oi! That's not true!" now she got me talking.
"Chill. I'm exaggerating." she raised both of her hands. "But you look like a drug addict with those eyebags."
"I can't believe, you just compared me with a drug addict." I gasped.
"Enough. I'm trying to give you a lecture."
"You're not even being serious."
"Jeez. Nona. Can you give me this time? Pretend that you're a mute again."
I crossed my arms in front of my torso and pout at her. Here comes the Laura101 lecture.
"As I was saying," she continued. "You're starving yourself to death waiting for his damn call."
"I'm not."
"Yes, you are."
"No."
"You didn't eat breakfast."
"You know I skip sometimes."
"How 'bout dinner last night?"
"The point is?"
"Don't play dumb!" she rolled her eyes. "Oh my, Nona. Are you sure you're Nona?"
And this time, she grabs my chin with her free hand and started to inspect my face. I swat her hand away out of my annoyance. She's being her weird self again.
"Get a grip, Laura." I glared at her but she shrugged.
"Have you texted him?" she asked scanning the content of my phone.
"Yeah."
"Did you call?"
"No."
She raises her eyebrows and I started questioning myself why I have a friend as annoying as her.
"I can't disturb him. He might be rehearsing or resting." I answered her unspoken question.
"Nona Ignacio!" she called out like an exasperated parent. "You're his girlfriend. Not a dog waiting for her master to call. Are you doubting yourself that you're his human-existing-girlfriend?"
"I'm giving him his time."
"For that too long? You're crazy."
She started searching through my phone again. I watched her as she put it on her ear.
