"How much longer?" Draco complained, continuing to follow Harry through the seemed to be thickening trees.
"Almost--" Harry cut himself off and froze, staring wide eyed at what seemed to be nothing.
"Harry? What's wrong...?" Draco asked cautiously, placing a hand on Harry's shoulder.
"My-- my parents --" Harry cut himself off and began sprinting forward, not bothering to wait for Draco, who followed quickly after.
"Harry!" Draco yelled, "what's wrong?!"
"I lost connection with my parents!" Harry yelled back, pushing himself harder.
Draco had so many questions circling his head- but whatever it was, it seemed to be important. Draco pushed himself harder as well, somehow managing to stay in close range with Harry.
It wasn't long before Draco could start to see the mansion through the trees -- before he spotted someone. Someone with hair as white as Draco's, that fell down past his shoulders.
Draco felt time slow as he realized what was going on -- his father.
Without a second thought, Draco tackled Harry to the ground from behind, getting a yell in protest -- to which Draco covered Harry's mouth, "shut up," Draco hissed, keeping them out of sight.
Harry's yell attracted some attention, though, and Draco saw his father's head whip towards his direction.
"Oi, Bellatrix," Lucius called, catching the attention of a woman with wild black hair -- Draco's crazy aunt.
Lucius pointed his weapon towards the area Harry and Draco were hidden, "search the forest line." He demanded.
Draco felt his heart rate pick up as he searched for something to cause a distraction. His eyes landed on a rock, which he instantly picked up and threw in the other direction, attracting Bellatrixes attention.
Harry was staring wide-eyed towards his mansion, and Draco still kept a firm grip on him; still covering his mouth.
A few heart beats past, and suddenly out came two vampires; one with vibrant red hair and pale skin, the other looking nearly exactly like Harry; messy black hair and brown skin. They were each being held by their hair by two vampire hunters- each roughed up, but still breathing.
Harry's parents.
As soon as Harry saw his parents he began squirming, before finally managing to push Draco's hand off.
Harry just about blew their cover by standing up, but Draco managed to keep him down, "don't. Harry." Draco ordered, "they're too strong. There's too many."
Harry stared at Draco, his eye brows furrowed in worry and his eyes filled with pain, "I have to do something!" He whispered sharply, "I can't just let my parents die!"
Draco panicked. He couldn't keep Harry from doing anything stupid -- but he had to try, right?
Harry stood up- luckily they were too far back in the forest for anyone to notice them unless they were trying to see them.
Draco watched as Harry and his mother locked eye contact. He watched as Harry's mother mouthed 'run.' And... He watched in horror as his father sliced her head off, a dull 'thump' sounding as it hit the ground.
Harry's father cried out a loud, heart breaking "NO!" And Harry let out a gasp as he sank to his knees, bringing a shaky hand to his mouth.
Draco continued staring wide eyed, almost staring holes into his father's skull.
"Where's your siblings?" Draco asked quietly.
"I don't know," Harry's voice cracked, "my mother cut off connections with everyone before she died."
"Okay, Well if the hunters haven't found them then I'm sure they made it out safe. We need to go, Harry," Draco ordered, glancing back at the men.
They still didn't kill Harry's father, but he was beginning to burn under the sunlight. Draco heard Lucius beginning to question him on the whereabouts of the others, to which Harry's father merely spit in his face.
Lucius closed his eyes and sighed, before dragging his hand down his face to wipe off the saliva.
"Kill him." He ordered, before turning his back.
Harry's father began struggling to get out of the grip of the other person, to no avail.
"Harry, come on, you don't need to see this," Draco whispered, focusing on Harry now.
Harry couldn't take his eyes off his father.
"Harry," Draco begged, eyes tearing up.
Your father did this. Your father did this. Your father did this, kept repeating in his head.
Draco winced when he heard the second dull thump of another head hitting the ground.
Harry let out a soft cry and tears began slowly rolling down his cheeks. He leaned into Draco, no longer able to sit up straight; his eyes never leaving his parents' dead bodies.
Draco wrapped his arms around Harry, moving his hands in slow, circular movements on Harry's back, "I know," he'd whisper quietly.
Harry buried his head into Draco's chest, letting go of muffled wails.
It broke Draco's heart. He had so many questions. So many worries. He couldn't even process them all.
"Harry," Draco whispered, "we need to leave."
Harry nodded, finally standing to his feet with Draco's help. Harry's knees were wobbly- they could barely support his own weight. And Draco didn't blame him. He just watched his parents get decapitated.
"search the woods!" Draco heard someone order.
He panicked. "Harry, I know you just went through a lot, But we really need to start running," Draco whispered, looking behind him as the murderers began flooding the woods.
Harry mumbled something intangible, but instead of rushing ahead he stopped in his tracks.
Draco looked at him, confused. Harry was staring at the ground, his brows furrowed.
"What?" Draco whispered, "Harry, we need to go,"
Harry looked up at Draco, "how did you know those people?"
