Both, Harry and Draco, were awoken by a blood curdling scream coming from outside.

The two immediately shot out of bed, Draco's heart pounding in his chest.

"What was that?" Draco whispered, staring wide-eyed at the front door of the cabin.

Harry shook his head and quickly threw on his cloak, afterwards rushing out the front door; Draco on his heels.

The morning sun blinded both of them for a split second before their eyes adjusted, and each stared in shock at the sight before them.

There was the four cousins, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and... Luna?

Luna was sprawled on the ground, crying in agony as burns began appearing all over her skin -- burns from exposure to the sun.

Luna's eyes were blood red -- the seemed to be glowing. Blood was pouring from her mouth... but it was her own blood. Draco noticed fangs beginning to grow in the spot of her human canines, and a set of what seemed to be retractable fangs protruding from above the first set.

Draco took a step back, holding his breath.

"You turned her?!" Harry yelled, fuming.

Everyone's eyes snapped towards Harry and Draco -- including Luna, who seemed to have just picked up on Draco's scent.

The moment she laid eyes on Draco, she jumped to her feet, her pain seemingly vanishing.

Immediately she began racing Draco's way, only to be tackled to the ground by Ginny herself.

"I had to!" Ginny defended, her eyes glossy, "if I had not she would have gotten killed when we go to slay those vampire hunters!" Tears leaked onto her cheeks.

"You did so knowing newborns are stronger than all of us combined, whilst there was a human nearby?!" Harry's face turned red with pure rage, "what were you expecting to feed her?! What were you thinking, Ginny?! Why would you--" Harry cut himself off, staring at Ginny with wide eyes, "Why would you TORTURE your own girlfriend?! Who now has to live with a cursed soul?!"

Ginny stared at Harry with pleading eyes, "please, Harry, help me." Tears streaked her pale cheeks. "Please."

Harry clenched his jaw and turned to Draco, "don't leave my sight, but keep your distance. One bite and you'll either die or turn out exactly like her." He mumbled, afterwards running to help Ginny.

Hermione and Ron stood around Luna as well, "are you ready?" Hermione asked, glancing Harry's way.

Harry nodded.

Each wrapped their hands around Luna's upper arm, pulling the new born vampire onto her feet.

Draco watched them drag her towards the cabin, also realizing Harry's gloves weren't on, as his hands began forming blisters from exposure to the sun.

The four vampires somehow managed to strap Luna to a chair in the cabin with her only escaping once. Her eyes never left Draco, and it made him feel nauseous.

Luna, the sweet fairy-like girl, now turning into... this. She went from wanting to protect Draco, to wanting his blood.

"She needs to drink some blood. Otherwise she'll die." Harry explained, never moving his eyes away from Luna.

"We don't have time to hunt." Hermione pointed out. "She's already too far into her transformation. If she waits any longer..." she trailed off, her unsaid words weighing heavy on everyone's shoulders.

"She can have some of mine," Draco offered.

Harry snapped his gaze off Luna, "no. No. No she cannot."

"Yes she can. I have plenty of blood, and without some she'll die." Draco retort.

"Draco," Harry put his hands on Draco's shoulders, "I won't let you. If she drinks your blood, she'll crave it for the rest of her days. That's how Vampirism works. The first taste of blood they get will be their eternal craving. Which is why most vampires are converted with deer blood." Harry explained, his hands tightening around Draco's shoulders.

"Look at her, Harry!" Draco raised his arm in Luna's direction, "She's being tortured right now. She could die. Are you saying you're going to let your own cousin die?"

"She's not blood."

Everyone fell silent at Harry's words, shock evident on everyone's features as they stared wide-eyed at Harry.
Even Luna seemed to go stock still and shift her gaze to Harry instead of Draco.

"Neither am I." Draco replied. "She's been in your family longer. I'm going to help her, whether you like it or not." Draco took a step away from Harry.

Harry ran his hands through his hair, tugging at it; his mind numb with stress.

"Wait. What if -- Ron and I will go hunt. If we aren't back in time, then you can give your blood. Is that fair?" Harry asked weakly, distraught.

Draco set his jaw, "fine. An hour. You have an hour."

Harry nodded and took no time in rushing out of the cabin, Ron quickly following.
Draco collapsed onto a chair and rubbed a hand down his face.

-

It's been forty-five minutes since Harry and Ron left, and Luna seemed to just be getting worse. By now her skin was deathly pale, and purple spider veins began appearing on her face. Like stone cracking.

Her breathing was beginning to go shallow, like she was dying -- and she was. But every so often a jolt of energy shot through her and she almost managed to break out of the strains.

Draco finally stood to his feet, "She's just getting worse. I don't even think she'll make it another fifteen minutes. We have to feed her." He stated.

Ginny and Hermione shared looks, but Hermion was the one to step towards Draco, "we can still wait, it's dangerous to give her your blood."

"No, now. Let's do it."

Hermione hesitated before nodding solemnly, leading Draco infront of Luna, "we don't have any tools at our disposal to store your blood, so she'll have to bite you. You won't turn into a vampire unless she injects you with her venom, and most newborns don't do that... so..." she looked at Draco.

"What if she drains me?"

"Ginny and I will make sure that doesn't happen." Hermione assured.

Draco nodded and rolled up his sleeve while stepping towards Luna, his heart pounding. Luna kept her eyes on Draco's eyes, holding eye contact... But as soon as his arm was close enough, she lunged foreward: her teeth sinking into Draco's flesh.

Draco cried out in pain as his knees buckled under him; causing the boy to sink to the ground.
Hermione and Ginny immediately began attempting to pry Luna's jaw opened.
It wasn't working.

The world began swaying under Draco's feet, and he suddenly felt nauseous. His vision began to haze and he felt himself break into a cold sweat.

How can she have sucked this much blood so quickly? Doesn't it take longer... Why... why... Did...

Draco was no longer able to form a proper thought. The last thing he remembered before blacking out was the sound of yelling.
