"Seriously do I look okay? Should I ditch the tie?" He fidgets with his tie and collar. We are walking to the premiere from the hotel. A mere two block walk but is taking forever when your walking partner keeps checking himself out on any reflective surface.
I glanced at him for the umpteenth time. He stopped walking and gave me a questioning look. I motioned for him to come to the side, mindful of annoyed New Yorkers who are not sympathetic to fellow pedestrians who suddenly stop in the middle of the sidewalk.
"You look dashing... And keep the tie, you have this whole young Pierce Brosnan 007 thing going on" I straightened his collar and pat his chest. He nodded confidently and smiled.
"And wait until they hear my English accent..." He joked. I laughed. I linked my arms inside the hook of his elbow and started walking.
"I should say you are my Bond girl but you look more like M. A sexy younger and hotter M..." he commented on my outfit. I wore a black tailored blazer and suit pants combination. Very 90s with no undershirt under the blazer and the buttons are positioned as such to show just a tiny bit of cleavage. I completed the outfit with black stilletos and a shocking red clutch.
"I hate going to premieres... I don't ever want to put so much effort to just see a movie" I muttered. "And to have to strike the right balance between looking decent and like you belong there and not looking as though you overdid it... Its annoying"
"Oh but it's worth it... Just look at that" He exclaimed clearly excited.
We have arrived at the theatre. a few metres away from the red carpet. The crowd screaming and cheering for the stars on the carpet. The photographers flashing away behind a red velvet barricade.
He turned to me and flashes his dazzling smile.
"Thank you thank you for deciding to go last minute... And thank you for taking me..." He kissed me on the cheek.
I smiled back and squeezed his arms. We make our way to the entrance of the red carpet and I took out our invitations from my clutch. We stood in line to get inside the velvet rope.
After what seemed like forever, we finally reached in front of the queue. Big muscly security guarded the entrance to the red carpet.
"Kate Hallway and Ron Appleby..." I announced to the staff in charge of the invitations.
"Hold on for a sec... Yep..." He ran his fingers on our names that showed up on his iPad, he then quickly explained to us where we would be seated and which way to go. But I was only partly listening by now.
A figure on the carpet had me hypnotized. The crowd went wild for the tall and muscular man in the immaculately tailored blue suit. His golden curls and glowing skin seemed to sparkle as the camera flashes relentlessly. And even though it's too far to really see his smile and his baby blues, I know it's there. Dazzling away...
"Kate...what do we do now?" Ron asked anxiously as we pass security and found ourselves in the red carpet.
I pulled myself together and started scanning the crowd for a familiar face. Not long until a handsome executive from Legendary Pictures by the name of Paul recognized me.
"Kateee.... So good to see you" he came over and gave me a warm American hug.
"Good to see you Paul... It's been ages..." I hugged him back.
"By the way, who do I have to blame for the trailers?" I joked sarcastically. It's been widely known among the production team that Guillermo made his distate for the trailer obvious to the studio.
