"Oh God now I can't stop picturing you as Eliza!" Kate laughed and smacked me playfully.

"I had too... You were beginning to scare me with the crying. It's like I've fixed a broken faucet" I teased, wiping warm tears from her face.

"I can't help it... That was the sweetest and most honest thing anyone can ever say to anyone... " Kate bit her lip. She rest her head on my shoulders and sighed. I kissed her head lovingly.

"Oh shit now your sweater is all wet," she got up and grabbed a tissue box from the table. She plopped back down next to me.

"I must look disgusting" Kate said in between blowing her nose and wiping tears from her eyes.

"Why is it that you always seem to make me cry... I don't cry. I never ever cry... Not sad tears, happy tears, angry tears... Never!" She exclaimed.

I grinned at this exquisite creature before me. Kate's face is streaked with tears and her nose red as Rudolph. But to me, she is the most beautiful in these rare vulnerable moments.

Of course in normal circumstances, one can't ignore the fact that Kate is this tall, elegant and icy princess who is simply captivating. Mysterious, intriguing, sexy... but I consider myself very lucky to get to see this tender side of her.

"Darling Kate..." I reached for her hand and squeezed tight.

"I have never told anyone what I told you. Somehow I knew you would understand... Even if we never cross paths in the future, this is something about me that is only for you"

She nodded solemnly. We sat in silence for about a minute or two. And then a menacing growl coming from her tummy made us both giggle.

"I'm starving" she said in a shy voice.

"Shall we venture out?" I said and then winced as the realization that it's raining cats and dogs outside.

"It's really coming down" Kate also just realising that the window is wet with rain. The New York sky line seemed to be veiled.

She curled back in my arms.

"Room service for the lady?" I offered.

****

Don't move!" Kate barked.

I laughed and therefore inevitably moved.

"Oh sod it! I give up" she put down the hotel notepad and pencil in a dramatic motion.

"Okay okay I'm sorry... I'll be good" I promised.

She smiled naughtily and started sketching again. Her eyebrows knit together as she concentrated. She would alternate between looking at the notepad and looking at me. She would bite her lip every so often. It takes all the self control in the world not to pounce her and cover her with kisses. My adorable darling Kate.

"Keep smiling like that" she coaxed.

The door bell rang signaling room service arrived.

"I'm sorry milady but duty calls" I got up, kissed her on the cheeks and head to the door.

"It's okay I don't need you to model anymore" she mumbled and continue finishing up her sketch.

I took care of the nice room service lady and wheeled the food cart myself into the dining area.

"Dinner's ready!" I announced theatrically.

"Done!" Kate got up and presented me with a sketch of me.

I looked at the sketch and my initial reaction is to laugh.

"You told me to smile" I exclaimed. Me in the sketch is not smiling.
