The whole night Constance kept rolling around in her sleep. I got out of bed and took the crumble paper from under the pillow.

7:14 AM

I put on sweatpants and tucked in my white top. Constance was still asleep and I didn't want to wake her. I took her test and sprinted down the stairs. From the stairs and to the kitchen I could already smell pancakes. "Mom is making the 'I'm Sorry' pancakes." I whispered to myself.

I put on a straight face and walked in the kitchen. Josh was reading the daily news and my mother was cooking multiple meals. I could tell they felt guilty about everything, but didn't want to bring anything up. They didn't even notice I walked in or just didn't bother saying hi.

I placed Constance's test and hung it up on the refrigerator. I couldn't stand how silent the kitchen was, the only thing you could hear was the oil popping, drips of water coming from the sink, and pages from the newspaper being turned. I took a plate of pancakes and sat on the dinning table. Still, no word was to be said. "Good morning!" Constance walked in the kitchen and took a plate.

"Good morning Sweetie," Josh placed the news article down and ate a piece of bacon. "So dad, what's the weather like?"

"There's a slight chance of rain." He smiled at Constance and still didn't mention anything about last night. I couldn't take it, I was given the silent treatment instead of the other way around. I grabbed my backpack and left immediately. So much things were going on and they chose to ignore me.

I stormed off to school and for the first time, I actually wanted to go to school. At the entrance I saw Malane waiting for someone. From a far, I shouted her name. "Hey Malane, Malane!" She still couldn't hear me. She was talking to three girls that looked a lot like Katelyn and her friends. As I kept walking closer, they disappeared. I took out my phone and texted her.

"Hey, where are you?"

"Malane?"

"Hello?" Bubbles started to pop up, but disappear.

"Hm?" A message popped up, but it wasn't from Malane.

"Your message has been blocked from this user, please try again later." I stared at my phone confused. Did I do something?

I stopped to think for a second. "Katelyn!!" I ran straight ahead, not looking back.

The stress became more real for me. I had to worry about my family and my only friend. I lost everything that mattered. I took a deep breath and gave up running. It took me a while, but I made it inside.

For the first time, I made it to school early. The halls were slightly quiet and it was less crowded than usual. "Malane!" I saw her down the hall. She looked really happy and smiled more. She was standing there with a tall man wrapping his arm around her. "Brendan?" So much questions started to pop up in my head. Why now of all times?

I took a deep breath and sat next to my locker. I curled up my knee and wrapped my arm around it. "I hope my day gets better than this."
