The whole house was smelling of typical Christmas smells like cinnamon, needles, minced pie, fish and turkey. On the window were 6 candles each for one of us, like the Irish tradition said to do. Same tradition would make me go to church with my boyfriend tomorrow morning. Smiling with my heart being filled of all the Christmas feelings I turned around to see Niall, his brother and Bobby sit in front of the TV. Just as I wanted to enter te kitchen to help Maura and Denise with the food Gregs wife came out with food stapled in her arms. Quickly I took some from her before it could fall and helped her carry it to the tiled table. "Thank you, (Y/N)." The blonde said and flashed me a warm smile. I had to say I had actually been a bit nervous to spend Christmas here since I didn't see Nialls relatives very often and quite had spent a Christmas with them. I was especially nervous because my celebration of Christmas was different and I was a little bit afraid to do something against their tradition. That anxiety had disappeared by now since they all were really nice and it was just cute to follow all their traditions. Except standing up early for church. After the best food I've ever eaten we cleaned the dishes and then sat down on the couches around the chimney. My tummy was stuffed full from all the turkey food and different dishes we ate. Soon we started to talk and tell stories instead of watching the TV that was still running. Maura told a funny story about Niall when he was younger and we all shared a laugh as his head just turned all red and he was really embarrassed. "Come on, babe, don't be ashamed it's cute!" I reassured him while Greg was annoying Niall a little bit more and belaboured about it. It already was late at night when we decided we would go to bed. In our room or more precisely Nialls old room we switched into our pyjamas and cuddled up into the blankets. After a while I thought Niall was already asleep but then he started to speak. "I'm happy you agreed to spend the holidays with my family, babe!" I laughed a little and propped myself up on his chest so I could look him into his sea blue eyes. "Me too, they're amazing and so kind." He laughed. "So are you." That made me chuckle a little bit and I kissed the tip of his nose. "Goodnight, Niall." I whispered before laying down again and falling asleep. Even though I had to stood up early I wasn't really that tired and by the time we arrived back at Nialls childhood home I was really excited about the presents. First I opened one from Maura. The neatly folded paper revealed a square box which I instantly opened. "Oh my gosh, it's beautiful, thank you!" I instantly fell for the small silver pendant which consisted of two small wings that were forming a heart. Nialls mom just laughed happy that I liked the present and pulled me in a tight hug. "No problem, (Y/N), I mean you're family." Without refrain I hugged her back. After some more presents from Bobby, Greg, Denise and Maura I finally got to Nialls. It was a big box and I opened it curiously. Since it was a bigger one I sat down on the couch and pulled the little contents out one after another. A T-Shirt. "The shirt you wore when we met." He smiled. A pair of earrings. "The earrings you wore that day." It went like this for each item I pulled out of the box. "The perfume you wore the day we met." I smiled up at him as I pulled out the last thing I could make out. Without looking I unwrapped the paper and opened the small box. Nialls eyes sparkled a little and I lowered my gaze onto the thing in my hand after flashing a smile. My heart nearly stopped when I saw the beautiful ring in my hands. I looked up at Niall who was kneeling in front of me by now. "The ring you'll wear for the rest of your life!" I couldn't say anything the feelings of shock and joy were overwhelming. "Hopefully, if you take this silly and childish man to your husband of course." Tears rolled out of my eyes as I nodded my head violently and chocked out a "yes".
