Lucy had been sick for the whole week and all this time I had to look after her, missing on work, because her daddy had still been on tour. Today, although Harry came home and because of that I was looking through my closet for an outfit for work tomorrow. I heard the door snap shut and shuffling of feet, then he came into our shared bedroom, dropping his suitcase onto the floor he gave me a big grin and opened his arms. I didn’t hesitate a second I instantly jumped into his arms and wrapped mine tightly around him. “I missed you.” His voice rasped and I smiled, burying my face in his neck. “We missed you too.”We pulled apart a bit, just to share a affectionate kiss. After we could finally let go of each other he sat down on the bed while I continued picking my clothes. “So how is my princess doing?” I smiled. “She’s okay, it’s not that bad but she’s a little whiny. Her nose is sore from blowing it, her throat is scratchy and she can’t stand to stay under the sheets when she’s hot from the fever.” I laugh a little. “Also she doesn’t really like the medicine, but it’s nothing dangerous.” He nodded, then left the room to look after our little girl. A few seconds later I already heard him hum some melody to put her to sleep since she wouldn’t fall asleep until her dad returned. She was some bullhead when she wanted to. I smiled and hummed with him silently, while finally finding a perfect outfit, then changing into my pj’s and laying down, after checking again, if the door was locked. A smile crept onto my face, when I heard footsteps, then the rustling of clothes and a body slipping in next to mine, cuddling up to me. “I’m happy you’re back!” I whispered, as my husband peppered a few kisses over my shoulder, neck and cheek, while pulling me into his chest and wrapping his arms around me. “I’m glad I’m finally back. I missed my two most precious girls on tour with me.” I laughed a little, then I already felt myself drift off to sleep and into unconsciousness.
Next day I left Harry alone finally going to work again, where I was met with paper stacks over paper stacks. I was alone in my division so I had no one to take care of my work. My nose was running the whole day and my head felt like it would burst any minute but I couldn’t care less, I had to get to work. The papers had to be done and signed. I sighed taking a sip of my tea, which I bought for my throat. After hours of work I finally left the office, having finished off the old papers and now only had to do a few new ones tomorrow and my normal work. Sighing I stepped into the dark flat. I didn’t even bother to turn off the lights but just kicked off my shoes, undressed and stepped into the shower, before falling into the soft sheets of my bed, beside my loving husband. The next day I left early to finish the last bit of the stacked up work, I had lost my voice over night and my nose was running constantly, still I had to get this done. With my head feeling a little bit fuzzy I sat in the office, doing the last few papers. After they were finished I wanted to go through the reports of the departments of the company, but I just couldn’t concentrate, I felt like burning up. Trying my best to concentrate for some time I finally decided that it was no use and told my boss that I would go already, because I didn’t feel quite right. With one look in my direction she gave me a nod and nearly threw me out since, if I signed in for sick it must be serious. I normally never was absent because of illness, normally I would just work through it while some colleagues would sign in sick because of a simple cough.
After half an hour ride home I finally stepped into my flat and went directly to the bedroom, where I stripped off my work clothes, and slipped under the blankets, I was gone in seconds. I awoke some time later, by a wet rag being laid on my forehead. When I opened my eyes I looked right into Harry’s green ones. He smiled at me softly. “You’re burning up, love.” Was all he said. I flashed him a small smile. “Must have infected myself through Lucy.” He nodded his head. “I’m gonna make some chicken soup for you and the small one, just don’t worry and go back to sleep. I’ve got you.” I smiled at him, thankful that he was back, I really had missed him a lot. I drifted off to sleep again quickly, just to be awoken by Harry’s soft voice a while later. “Babe, wake up, I’ve made you something to eat! He whispered and I opened my eyes.” As I sat up I noticed the steaming bowl he held in his big hands carefully. “Here you go, eat up, so you’ll get well soon!” I flashed him yet another thankful smile. “How’s Lucy?” I asked, while slurping spoon after spoon, while feeling the hot liquid running down my sore throat. A smile set on his face. “Fine, you don’t need to worry about her.” I looked at him a little. Lucy was a really sweet and nice girl, not a whiny or devilish sort of kid, but when she was ill she became really straining. But I didn’t dig deeper, maybe she was a little better with Harry, because she hadn’t seen him for some time now and was happy to have some shared time with her dad. After my bowl was finished I went back to sleep, trying to sweat the fever out of my pores, enwrapped in a few blankets. I hated being sick it was just nasty.
The next morning or noon I woke up and instantly left the bed. I heard some discussion from the kitchen and when I snuck to the door I was met with Harry pleading my little girl to take her medicin and trying to convince her that it was for her own good. But my daughter could be a bullhead just as much as her father was, so he had a hard time to do that. When he saw me in the doorway he leaned over to my daughter shortly, to whisper something in her ear and after that she instantly took the medicine. Then her father stood up and walked over to me, to plant a soft kiss on my head. “Is everything okay? You need any help?” He shook his head. “No, I’m alright. I’ve got everything, you don’t need to worry, just bother with getting healthy again.” I crinkled my forehead but before I could say anymore he swatted my daughter back into her room and warm bed. “I’m gonna make you something to eat instantly!” He said while leaving the kitchen. After some time he still wasn’t back and I imagined to her some whining of my daughter, she did it often lately, because of the illness. I cut myself a slice of bread and smeared some Nutella on it, while sipping on a cup of tea. When he came back I was already eating and he excused himself for taking so long. “I’m gonna fill the tub so you can take a bath, babe.” He announced and after I was finished with my food I stepped into the hot bath, which was filled with steam. I stripped off my clothes and slipped into the hot water, making me feel clean again.
When I finally stepped out and left the tub it was already late. I felt a lot better after all the rest I got and even though my nose was still running my headache and fever had vanished. I slipped into my pj’s and then went out into the flat. It was a chaos and I had to chuckle a little, it seemed like Harry didn’t have it as easy as he pretended it was. After going through the rooms I finally found him in the small bed of my little girl, totally out. He was snoring, sleeping deeply, while my little devil sat on the ground and played happily.
