He should have stopped you, he should have stopped you from the start. He shouldn't have let you leave to this party of that kid again. He should have come earlier. He should have stopped you from drinking so much. He should have been there. He should have stopped you from taking that damn pill. But he didn't, he wasn't there. He let you slip away. He knew since weeks that you had changed. Your eyes have gotten dull and your voice was always dragging slowly. You always went to these parties of that particular friend. You didn't call after these parties sometimes only the day after but other times you took days to call him back. He knew something was wrong but he thought you would come to him if you needed help. You always asked him for his advice and help. Always relying on the boy you knew since you were a girl. He would always help you out and kick you out if you were stuck in a dangerous situation. He always helped you. Why didn't you rely on him this time? Why didn't you come to him with your problems? Did he do something wrong? Wasn't he reliable anymore? Why did you go to those parties drinking over your limits and taking those pills? He couldn't understand as he sat there crying, holding his head in his hands, sobbing silently. It was hours ago that he stormed into the party being worried to death about you. He searched through the crowds hoping to see your smiling face, but he didn't. You were nowhere to be found. Thinking that you might have left and gone home he turned to try it at your apartment when he heard two girls talking. "Argh, I hate that fucking person who's occupying the freaking toilet! I need to go!" Those words were all he needed to turn around and search for the toilet where a long cue of nagging people had formed. He straightly went for the locked door ignoring the bitchy comments that he should wait and line up properly at the end of the row. "(Y/N), are you in there? Is everything alright?" He didn't get any answer but still the feeling in his gut told him you were in there. "(Y/N)!" He screamed your name in a louder voice now which nearly was trembling, showing a mix of worry, panic and anger. You didn't answer again so his mind was set up. Taking a few steps back from the door he rushed forward against the hard wood making it shake violently but it stayed in place. His worry and panic rising inside of him he did the whole movement again but this time with a whole lot more force. The door slammed open and the normally so calm brown haired lad rushed into the small room. His eyes instantly fell on the motionless body on the floor. Even though he couldn't see her face he instantly knew it was (Y/N). His (Y/N). With a large step he was beside her, bending down eyeing her in the hope she would just laugh and tell him all of this was a big joke. She didn't she laid there lifeless, not moving an inch. Without even thinking about it he cautiously picked her up and ran for the front door, making his way through the crowd and outside to his car. He started the engine and then speeded of for the nearest hospital shooting a look at the motionless body beside him every once in a while. Now he sat here bawling his eyes out because of you, still feeling the way your slack body had felt in his hands. It was the worst feeling he has ever felt in his whole life, there was no pain greater. No pain that even compared to the one he felt right now in this moment. How could he let this happen? Why wasn't he there? He promised her to look after her and take care of her. He promised it to her and her parents. He didn't take care of her. He shouldn't have left for tour, he should have told her to stay at his flat instead of moving out. He should have looked after her and prevented her from slipping in such a bad group of people. "I'm sorry Sir, are you Mr. Payne?" A low raspy voice asked and he snapped his head up. "Yeah, that's me!" He croacked out with a breaking voice. "Since you're stated as the contact person I may inform you about Ms. (Y/L/N) condition." Liam nodded for the doctor to go on. "See Ms. (Y/L/N) state is still a little bit critical. We pumped her stomach. She had a heavy alcohol poisoning and nearly an overdose through taking some pills along with the liquidor." The doctor took a short pause and sighed lightly. "I'm sorry Sir but we're not yet sure when she's going to wake up. Her body state will be ok if she makes it through the night without difficulties but we can't promise you that she will wake up, since there is a chance that she won't." Liam clenched his jaw, trying to contain his tears. "You may go in now Sir and if you want you can stay here. It might help if you talk to her, in many cases the voice of a close person helps." With those words he turned away and left the brown haired lad alone in the hall. Taking a few deep breathes the young man stood up and went into the small dark room. Eyeing her slack body in the bed up and down. Again he began to cry, falling to his knees beside her bed and sobbing into her small hand which he held between his much bigger ones. It had been a few days now and (Y/N) hadn't woken up yet even though she looked a lot better. The rings under her eyes had vanished a little bit and her skin-color also had returned with a light pink making her skin look more healthy instead of deadly pale. "Morning Liam!" Zayn greeted silently as he walked through the door. He stopped next to his friend and squeezed my shoulder lightly. "C'mon man don't make such a face you know (Y/N) she's a fighter, she's gonna get through this!" He tried to convince Liam with a genuine smile. Zayn himself was hoping that he was right with that since all the boys were close to (Y/N). "Also you know you shouldn't blame yourself for what happened, it's not your fault. (Y/N) should have come to you or any other of us instead of doing this huge mistake." Liam looked up at him again with tears in his eyes. "No you don't understand I promised her parent that I would look after her if something happened to them so it IS my fault! I should have looked closer, listened better and spent more time with her. I should have said something as soon as I noticed the change." Liam was sobbing again, but this time out of anger he was so damn angry at himself for letting all that happen. "He's right Li, it wasn't your fault. I was the idiot who drank too much and took the pills." An nearly inaudible voice croaked. His head instantly shot up to (Y/N) who was illuminated by the soft morning sun, her (Y/E/C) eyes darting at him still a bit dull but now the life was back in them. "I'm so sorry Li, I shouldn't have done this." She suddenly began to cry and beyond seconds he was at her side holding her as close to him as he could do without crushing her. "Never do something so horrible like this again to me! I love you." He whispered while he peppered kisses over her head, hair and face. "I love you too, Li. I'm sorry."
