Elevator ~ e.d.

As I pull into my apartment complex my heart is beating out of my chest. The silence is awkward and I'm at a loss for words.

"We're here." I mumbled putting my car in park. She smiles a little and unfastens her seatbelt.

She follows me into the complex and to my apartment. I fumble with my keys because of how clammy my hands are causing her to giggle a little.

I finally swing my door open and she takes in the place. "You have a nice place." She smiles softly. "It's really not much." I say as my cheeks heat up.

Within seconds we here small pitter patter against my hardwood floor. In runs jasper. He immediately goes towards the new person.

"I'm sorry. He's really friendly. I probably should've asked if you liked dogs." I say trying to get jasper off of her.

She just chuckles and crouches down to jaspers level. "I love dogs. What's his name?" She ask with a bright smile as she pats his head.

"Jasper." I smile. The fact that she likes dogs makes me like her even more. She never fails to fascinate me.

"We can uh watch a movie if you'd like. I'll order a pizza." I say pointing to my couch. She stands up straight and nods.

She makes her way to my couch and jasper follows her considering he already likes her. She giggles as he jumps up onto the couch next to her wagging his tail as I pull out my phone to call and order pizza.

I've got the number memorized considering I order pizza so often. I order a plain pepperoni because she's bound to like that right?

After I hang up I make my way into the living room plopping down next to her and jasper.

"That was quick." She says smiling at me. "Yeah I order pizza quite often." I say scratching the back of my neck.

"Why's that?" She ask scrunching her eyebrows together. "I like pizza and I really don't know how to cook much." I admit. She giggles. "Maybe I should cook you an actual dinner sometime."

I'm in shock. Did she just offer me a date? "That'd be great." I stammer. She smiles and then glances at the black TV.

"So what did you plan on watching?" She ask as jasper lays next to her, finally calming down. "Oh yeah. We can scroll through Netflix if you want." I offer. She nods as I turn on the TV.

I don't scroll through Netflix very long when her eyes light up. "Pirates of The Caribbean." She mutters with big eyes and a smile. I chuckle. "I haven't seen that in forever." She groans. "Then let's watch it." I shrug as I click on it.

She sits back on the couch and I dare to move closer as my arm rest around her resting on the back of the couch. "What made you do it?" I ask as the opening credits flood the screen. She gives me a confused look. "What made you break up with him?" I further explain.

"Oh. I guess it's just that our conversation brought something to my attention." She answers now fully understanding. I'm happy that I convinced her to break up with such a jerk. "You were right. That kind of thing wasn't okay and I was sick of it. Part of me thinks that I deserve better." She says pushing some of her blonde hair behind her ear.

"You do deserve better." I blurt, my face now centimeters away from hers. She smiles nervously.

I slowly bring my hand up to her cheek and rub the pad of my thumb over it. She begins to melt into my touch and lean in.

My eyes flutter shut but they quickly shoot back open as there's a knock on my door. I pull away from her and mentally groan as I stand up to go retrieve our pizza.
