"Should I walk you to your apartment?" I ask referring to the fact that her ex boyfriend hasn't moved out yet. "Sure." She smiles softly.
She seems to be more comfortable around me and I like it. Tonight was great.
We both hop out of the car and it's my turn to follow her into her complex.
As we reach her door she sends me a small smile. "I think I might have to take you up on that dinner offer." I grin. She chuckles looking down at the ground to try and hide her red cheeks. I don't know where all this confidence came from.
"How about next Friday. Brad should be gone by then." She says biting her lip. That's a week away. I don't think I can wait that long but I will. "Sounds good." I smirk.
As Katie goes to reach for the door handle the door swings open to reveal who I'm guessing is brad.
He looks me up and down and scrunches up his face.
I can definitely tell I work out more than this kid. He looks a little scrawny for the way Katie tends to talk about him. She seems to be intimidated by him. God, I hope she's not scared around me.
I don't move my glance from his eyes. He looks down at Katie since she's only about 5'3. "Where have you been?" He ask as if he's her father.
I look over at Katie hoping that she won't let him walk all over her. "I went and had dinner with a friend. Why do you care?" She ask motioning towards me.
Brad rolls his eyes and thankfully banished back into the apartment. If he would've said anything more I might've pounced on him in pure rage.
"I'm sorry. I'll see you at work Monday yeah?" She says glancing at me with a hopeful smile. "Of course." I beam trying to hide the fact that Brad has me fuming.
I turn on my heels and begin to walk down the long hallway. "Wait! Ethan!" I hear Katie from behind me. I quickly turn around to face her. "Here." She says handing me a small crumpled up piece of paper. "It's my number. So you can uh text me for details about Friday." She says shyly.
I look at the digits scribbled on the paper and I look back up at her with a grin. "Goodnight Katie." I mutter shoving the paper into my pocket.
"Goodnight Ethan." She says and quickly pecks my cheek. My cheeks are on fire as she turns around to head back to her apartment.
About halfway down the hallway she looks over her shoulder and flashes me her gorgeous smile.
