HARRY
Two nights later, we were having a family dinner at TGI Friday's, my mum obsessing over Marina like she always does.
"I just can't believe how big she is!" She kept saying, making stupid faces that made Marina laugh. Liv was liking it because she had a little break while Marina's attention was on her grandma.
"Is she walking much?" Robin looked at my hand on Liv's thigh, probably a little bit too close to her crotch in public, and then into my eyes.
"A little bit, only when she really wants something and mummy won't get it for her," I squeezed Liv's thigh and she rolled her eyes, sipping her beer.
Gemma smiled at something on her phone and showed Liam. They've been acting more and more like Liv and I lately and it's scary. Mum and Gem were talking about something to do with nursing and how Gemma's job is, Liam and Robin are talking about sports which I know Liam hates, and Liv is listening and I'm watching her. I always find myself watching her. The way she has little creases by her smile before it's in complete full force, her teeth showing and her dimples indent her cheeks.
It's the way her hair falls off of her shoulders, that's how I fell in love with her. I know it, I know it exactly because she flicked her hair at that bar the first day I met her. It's a nervous habit of hers I've noticed. I made her nervous.
"Mamamamamama!" Marina cried, looking at Livi. Liv tried to smile and calm her down but she just kept crying.
"Alright, love," She stood up and picked Marina up. "We're gonna go walk around."
As soon as Liv was far enough away, mum was talking. "I will just never get over how proud I am of you two," She leaned on the table, fixing her napkin. "It feels like just yesterday you were home, and she didn't even have a bump yet. It's just crazy how fast it's all going."
"I'm pretty proud of myself, too," I admitted quietly. And I am.
"So am I. It's still weird to see you be all... in love." Gemma pretended to be grossed out and we all laughed. My phone buzzed on the table, drawing the attention to it.
She's passed out. I'm right outside the door, come help me bring her in?
I smiled and stood up. "I'll be back."
Outside, Liv was sitting on a bench and Marina was laying against her dress, sleeping like a rock. "Her carrier is in the car, will you get it and her blanket out of the bag?" She asked, and I followed. When I was walking back, I saw a little girl standing in front of Olivia talking to her. Liv was smiling, and the little girl with pigtails was looking at Marina.
"She's so little!" I heard the girl say when I got close enough.
"You were that little once, too," Liv smiled as I sat the carrier next to her. She gave Marina to me as she set up the carrier.
"Are you the daddy?"
"I am the daddy." I promised her, looking down to Marina and smiling. She was so peaceful.
"Why do you talk so weird?" She was missing a front tooth.
"I'm from a different country, so to me, you talk weird." I answered, laying Marina down gently in the carrier not to mess up the bow on her head.
"Why are you from a different country?" She picked her nose.
I laughed, looking at Liv. She shrugged. "Well, that's where I was born." I wonder where the hell this girl's family is.
"Oh." She was stumped, looking at Marina. "Well, what's it's name?"
"Marina Paige. What is your name?"
