Chapter 7: A Sign

"Oh my gosh!" I panicked.

Jace was chasing after me with the blade from before, I jumped over logs trying not to trip.

"Thomas, Thomas help me!" I called for him, wait... I can't trust him.

I should have payed less attention to my thoughts, and more attention to my surroundings.

I tripped on a log, falling and twisting my ankle.

"Ouch, please no!" I begged as Jace caught up to me.

He was laughing as he dangled the blade over my head.

"This time I will kill you" he smiled sickly.

"Not on my watch" Thomas growled as he tackled Jace.

I wore a smile on my face, but it disappeared quickly.

"Thomas watch out" I yelled as I saw Jace sink his blade into Thomas's chest.

Jace pulled the bloody knife out of Thomas's chest and smiled at me.

"No! Thomas!" I cried.

Suddenly the ground started to shake, was it an earthquake?

The image of Jace and his blade disappeared, a blurry image of Thomas replaced it.

"Annie? Are you ok? Annie wake up" Thomas said as he shook me.

I blinked a few times, "Thomas! You're ok!" I shouted.

"Why wouldn't I be ok?" He asked straight faced.

"Just a bad dream" I answered smiling.

"Oh, are you hungry?" He asked me.

He must have heard my stomach growl, "yes."

"I'll be right back" he said, "Hunter will watch over you."

Right after he left I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't still dreaming.

After I made sure I was awake I thought about what my dream meant.

Watch out for Jace? Avoid logs? I was stumped... Ahh! Could it be?

Could the dream be telling me to actually trust Thomas? After what happened with Jace?

I guess I could try to trust him... I'll give it a shot.

Thomas came back with two apples and tossed one to me.

I sunk my teeth into a squishy part of the apple, "ewww" I squeaked.

Thomas and Hunter both gave me a strange look.

"Just a bad part, sorry" I frowned.

"It's ok... You know how to shoot an arrow?" He asked, smiling.

"No, I've never tried to before" I answered politely.

"You want to learn how use a bow? And then learn how to hunt?" He questioned excitedly.

"Ok... I guess" I said trying not to be Ms. Boring.

He got his bow and grabbed a couple arrows that looked like he had made them.

"Come on" he called Hunter then looked up at me.
